I hate how Mike seem to be able to keep his shoes to very minimal or zero creasing. My LHS creased on the first steps lol

We have already gotten acknowledgement from Mike that he marches without bending his toes.

If memory serves, you haven't worn the plaza WT boots. If so, that's a shame.

Good memory.

Sadly, I've been leaning on the more casual side of dress these days.

OK - I need a show of hands here...

How are you guys wearing your Shell LHS in the summer*?

Socks - Sockless - Liners?

I'm a bit torn on this one as I would never normally wear a shoe without socks

Shell, summer, heat and sweat - how are you wearing these?

Thanks,

BN

In the south, rarely do we wear socks with loafers during the spring and summer, unless it's a more formal occasion.  So put in some thin liners, foot powder (if your feet sweat bad), or nothing and rock those bad boys with NO SOCKS.  :bigstar:

RE: Barrie lasted shoe vs boot and #8 variation ...

I fill out an 8D 975 quite fully and I so went with an 8.5D on the JCrew PCT boot. I'm happy that the 8.5D boot is just a little bit roomier ... I imagine that an 8D boot would have been quite snug.
In terms of colour, the I much prefer the deeper eggplant hues on the 975.

I'm in South Carolina so it gets pretty hot in the summer. I actually have my shell loafers on today. I always wear sock liners. I've tried many different kinds and found that only these work for me.

You can search for these on Amazon.

I tried some no show socks the other day with my LHS and didn't really like them. Kept slipping off my heel, shoe felt too snug and to top it off the sock showed a bit lol. Unless I can find a thinner version that actually doesn't show I think I am fine going full sockless. Clean your feet, use shoe trees after each wearing and don't wear on consecutive days. Never really had a smelly shoe problem yet.

I have used these terry cloth insoles in the past in my sperrys and OSB loafers when going sockless, but they only work if you size up a half because they take up a bit of room in the shoe. My LHS are snug sockless so that could be an option once the cork settles and I have a little more room.

I have a last question.

I have been waiting for a back order for some Aberdeen lasted shell medallion bluchers, size 11.5.

While waiting, I ordered an 11.5 Hampton last irregular. After trying it on, it was evident that it was slightly too short and I had a bit of middle toe touch when walking. The width otherwise was great (at the heel and ball).

According to the Alden last fit picture, those two lasts (Aberdeen and Hampton) are at the narrow end of the spectrum.

If an 11.5 in Hampton is slightly too short, I imagine the Aberdeen will be also, especially if it's a narrower toe box.

Can anyone commend on the difference between these two lasts? Alden of Carmel claims that the Aberdeen last is slightly longer than regular U.S. size but has no comments on the Hampton last.

Also, unrelated, I just got those 11D cigar LWBs from TSM and they fit well. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
