Some Fun in the Sun

Unworn Cigar, and Whiskey SW Bals with about 5 days of wear on them:

And the Context Tankers after the first wear...

I am quite happy with the fit on these Tankers on Barrie, I was expecting a a more loose fit, but these are quit form fitting.  The feel of the short wings is on another level however.

Its also pretty funny to look at these shoes in the sun, it clearly illustrates why so many people freak out about the quality of the shell finish and matching panels...

EDIT: How long did it take you to wear them out like that?

About 3 1/2 years- see here:

(interesting that link has Amlai posting his boots as well as his patina inspired me so long ago...)

Awesome, thanks for posting - my wife actually asked that question.

Yes, I used your post to help justify the price of these shoes... I'm sad, I know.... haahaha

Never heard of it. Was it $100 off a pair or $100 for a pair?

$100 for the pair according to an Instagram post

I'm assuming he meant $100 a pair because I wouldn't consider $100 off a crazy deal.

Regarding the haberdash suede, I wish they carried my size! Never tried the trubalance but I'm assuming it's the same as barrie, and if that's true I would need a 8.5. Gah I've been wanting a pair of new spring/summer shoes.

Whaaaaaat? Need supply is in Richmond. I would have driven 100 miles to pick up a brand new pair of Aldens for $100.

That's a pretty ridiculous price. Indy boots are probably Alden's best selling boots (and shoes alike) so I honestly see no reason to sell them for 80% off the original retail.

100% off a pair of Indy's is roughly 20% off. Not a bad deal, as far as I am concerned. You are right though that it's not a crazy good deal.

Any suggestions on how to touch up this abrasion to my unlined suede dovers?

Looks to me like Alden did a great job. However, much more impressive is your willingness to wear and not babying such a great looking pair of boots. I've got 5 pair of shell boots and you are truly an inspiration. Time to stop babying my shell.

Btw, in your case, it doesn't really matter whether these are dovers, whether they are suede or smooth leather, or even whether they are lined or unlined. What matters is exclusively the color of the edge.
