Thanks for the tip!

Nearly every pair of shell shoes/boots I've gotten from The Shoe Mart has had similar white flecks on them but it always brushes right off. I always chalked it up to some sort of dust floating around in their warehouse or maybe even from Alden's facility and smaller retailers are more apt to brush it off before shipping it out but TSM doesn't.

Wow, this is bloom coming off the shell, perfectly normal and desirable as the bloom means the shell is infused with oils. You'll have these boot for 30+ years. BTW this is one of my favorite makeups. Very cool boots .. Enjoy!

Does anyone use Saphir Super Invulner to waterproof cordovan?

Alden products are pretty hard to get in Australia and I'd likely have to pay international shipping rates to get some Leather Defender..

Does anyone know if there is a vendor offering a brown CXL wingtip boot, preferably with no speed hooks, on the barrie or trubalance?

Or am I barking up the wrong tree altogether and don't need to waterproof cordovan..

Any thoughts?

I got Invulner in my easter basket from the wife, the can itself is not really all that informative, I myself have been reluctant to put it on anything other than suede.

Check Alden of Carmel for this on barrie -- but not sure on sizes left and think they have speed hooks.

Yesterday and earlier today, there was a discussion about wearing shell in the rain: http://www.styleforum.net/t/85589/the-official-alden-thread/79440#post_7086412

Most people said they don't use anything because shell is pretty waterproof on its own. The bigger concern was how leather soles fare.

Thanks for that. I was mainly curious about the super invulner, given that on searching the thread, I couldn't see anyone had mentioned it in relation to cordovan.

But as you say, most of the concern seems to be how the soles would fair..

Oh I'm sorry. I misunderstood. I thought you were asking about waterproofing in general.

No worries, I probably should have left off the last two lines of the post, I can see how it came across that way. I'll edit it now.

Cheers
