I try not to wear leather soled shoes in the rain -- not the end of the world if it happens, but I steer toward commando/Dainite, etc. especially in heavy downpours and with snow, ice, slush.

I think I need to go more with your sentiment and start wearing my shoes more often, even in some slightly more adverse conditions.

I find that my leather soled shoes get chewed up and prematurely worn down when worn out in the rain. After the soles are saturated they become much more easily damaged. It's not usually a problem if I'm only outside for a few minutes, but for longer walks it becomes an issue.

Thank you. The lacing is a real pain. Takes forever, but I really like the look.
The pants are by epaulet. I love their garments.

I love epaulet as well. Which fabric and color is that? It doesn't look quite like olive in this pic, but it matches with the color of your boots so well.

Nice pick up. I tried on the indy version with the double water lock soles at Unionmade SF but I didn't pull the trigger. I don't know if it's the brass eyelets or what. Does anyone have dark chocolate suede in the wild pics? Might help me make a decesion.

Anyone have the recent batch of cigar LWB from SF? I wonder how dark the edge is.

Curious about what denim you are wearing in this pic DV

Commando and leather and crepe. If I have a brand new pair of leather soled shoes and it's raining or icy I probably will not wear them, but once they've been worn a few times I don't notice any excessive slippage after coming in out of the rain.

I believe these are on the grant last. They appear sleeker next to my color 8 PTBs. I went TTS and they fit great. I size down 1/2 for Barrie.

Excellent score. Do you happen to know the style number for those?

These are chinos. They are not as white as that pic makes them.

Dumb question, but are you sure they're Aldens?  None of the shoes currently on the BF page are even made in the U.S.

As I recall from seeing them the other day, the edge is fairly dark.

Would you consider them dark antique edge or just dark? Thanks

I can say with confidence that they are on the barrie last.  If you have tried any of the unlined dovers/PTBs on barrie, this BB suede PTB fits identically (even though these are fully lined; you wouldn't be able to tell the difference).  That said, the unlined version and this BB version maybe a smidge more narrow than the standard barrie lasted shoe (i.e. 990/975), but not enough for me to size differently.  If you do go up a half size, I suppose you run into the problem of too much length.  Unfortunately BB does not have any wide sizes available.  If you like the width of your 9.5D, I would return them and order a pair of 9E from Alden SF or DC.  They should have your size in stock.  I suppose you can call them to be sure.

Good luck to you!

I was told at the NYC store that they frequently size people up a width from their normal Barrie because the suede is able to be pulled more tightly across the vamp than calf, shell, or even the unlined CXL.

Thanks for the helpful feedback, guys. Wish that BB had my Barrie size in stock so I could at least try them on - I called them and they said there are none in stores/inventory, and there are no plans to re-stock anytime soon. Width actually feels fine on these. I'll be in SF in two weeks, so I'll have to stop by Alden SF (for the first time!) to try on the 9D and 9E to see how they compare.

odessa - How long have you had your suede dovers, and have you noticed any stretching?

I didn't look really closely because I already have cigar LWBs, but they were very dark..more than the dark antique that I've seen on others.  Might want to call Robert and ask him; I've always found him to be very helpful.
