Just to be sure, will it get better after several wears? Because right now it is really painful.

I had a similar issue with a pair of CXL PCT boots, but a bit lower actually.

Once the boot broke in and conformed to my geometry, I had no further issues.

I'm going through a similar break in with a pair of LHS at the moment...

The prior advice and comments are correct. Best bet is a thicker sock. You also might want to try a product called moleskin. It's similar to a bandaid, but specifically designed for your issue. I learned about moleskin through Boy Scouts. It's common for boots to rub in spots causing these issues. The key to fixing thus issue is to prevent it. That's where a thicker sock, like a Thorlo hocking sock will help...you can get them at REI. Moleskin at CVS or similar, maybe REI too.

As long as the boot fits your foot, the rubbing issue on your ankle will go away with break in, until then protect those areas!

I agree with your comments. The most recent batch of Whiskey LWB were lighter. Based on my multiple pairs of whiskey and watching them age and get patina....I think the lighter shell is better. At least that's been my experience.

There's a few interesting LWB makeups at UnionMade that I'd be interested in. Good thing I'm on a spending freeze at the moment.

Yeah, the Unionmade offerings are not bad right now.

The plain cap toe on Barrie is different.

I agree.  Nicely done.  To date I haven't seen the black naval pulled off this well.
