Chrome Excel is an awesome choice.  I have several pairs and they are go to choices for adverse weather or casual days for me.

See Ya,

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I am a big fan of the CXL.

These look great, and probably feel like nothing on your feet.

I've been a long time lurker, but this is my first post. Fantastic contributions on this thread! I'm excited about my new acquisition - brown CXL NST on barrie with commando sole. I think it's a great make-up especially for rainy wet days!

Found it on ebay - sold through Loafers & Laces from Baltimore. Bought directly from their store - Paul there was a pleasure to deal with.

The patina (fading from burgundy to reddish-brown) is quite evident.

Thanks Gentlemen, mine are TheShoeMart seconds from a year or two ago. They came fairly "patina"ed out of the box due to dying issues that lead them to have virtually no Alden dye on them. Clearly NAMOR bad rxceent taste.

Hi,

Any of you guys here own Tricker stow boots?

Wondering how they compare to Alden Indy Boots in comfort and quality of the leather. Alden calf vs. trickers calf Etc.

Thanks.

I'm guessing you're talking about the Truebalance last. Stows are on the 4497 and fit similarly: fairly high-volume & wide in the toe box. Workboot fit. I have no idea what you mean by "comfort quality of the leather?" They are made in all kinds of different leathers - cxl, shell, calf.

Welcome aboard, bustert!

Hang on for a wild ride...this forum will drive a man to do crazy things like post pictures of shell cordovan at 3:00am and sell his first-born for a pair of Color 4 anything...

Hi all,

Long time lurker for me too! Alden is really hard to find in France (only two shops in Paris with small selection and high prices).

I am so glad we spent few days in NYC two weeks ago with my girlfriend since I had the chance to find the shoes I wanted so much: a pair of Shell Cordovan Captoe Boots! I was really proud to bring them back to Paris!

They are just back from the cobbler:
