I think you are taking it a bit too seriously. I was just messing with BK. He knows I am quite happy for him and extremely jealous of his recent aquisition.

And I was simply piggy-backing on tifosi's joke.  (Hence the winking smiley)

I don't think the 'haha' and the smileys go as far as we think they do.

@bkotsko I apologize. I wasn't insulting you or anything. Just having some fun.

Sorry, I didn't read your comment as you intended.
I got that tifosi was joking..

My longwings arrived this morning. This isn't a great picture to show the color of them, especially the cigar, but it's all I have right now. The cigar is a darker oak/brown color like I was hoping for. Honestly, before they get worn in, from a distance they almost appear similar to color 8. But side by side, they are definitely different colors.

I'm going to compare the whiskey to my shortwing whiskey and then decide whether to sell them. Not sure if I can justify both right now. I'll be keeping the cigar. Will keep you posted for those who have PM'd me.

(Fun fact: Nordstrom sells Nordstrom branded shoe trees at Nordstrom... but they sell Woodlore shoe tress at Nordstrom Rack at a lower price. Yet they are all the identical except for the name on the metal plate.)

I prefer Alden shoe trees to AE/Woodlore (standard) shoe trees. Their have better sanded edges and have bigger and rounder heels. But then the latter are a lot cheaper at Nordstrom Rack or at JAB when they are on sale. Yet, I like Woodlore Epic shoe trees the most:

+1 on preferring the Alden trees due to the width in the back, but $35 is pretty stinking rough.

Alden shoe trees are merely rebadged Rochester shoe trees.  Personally, I prefer the version with the solid toe rather than a split toe, which is standard (Alden) and less expensive.

If you pay anywhere in the neighborhood of $30+ for Rochester shoe trees--rebranded or otherwise-- you are doing this wrong.  Do a basic Google search, and you should be able to find the same product from approximately $10 to $25. If you really search, or are willing to spend a Saturday calling/visiting shoe repair stores and outlet stores, I bet you can find these same trees for $8 or some fraction of the Alden markup.  Cheers.

These will be my go to casual shoes for spring/summer

This batch of whiskey looks pretty light.

The spread between this "new" whiskey and "new" ravello is quite wide.

That's similar to my go to for the summer - unlined Dovers in snuff suede and tan suede.

Thanks guys!  I'm honestly now torn about my two new whiskeys.  I "think" that I prefer the looks of the tremont shortwings and perhaps may let the barrie longwings go, but the longwings fit me slightly better.  These are in a 7.5d while the tremont is an 8d (wish a 7.5d).  I have a big decision to make.

You know how this works...you either gotta love 'em, or let 'em go. If you don't love 'em, you'll be reaching for other shoes and these will become expensive dust collectors.
