I'm a bit shocked at how easy it is to scuff and crease; this unlined model is extremely supple.  Very happy...

My lawn is on its way @MrDV!! :slayer: BTW, you need to pick up something in chrmxl.  I've acquired two make-ups in two weeks and I'm quite satisfied...

Wow! Where did you get these?

You can find them at Alden DC and San Francisco.  I think TSM and a number of other places carry them as well.  Thanks...

I am afraid of trying and really liking cxl. I'm already hooked on Alden's shell, alpine grain, and suede.

Thanks DV.

I bought a pair of Alden x J Crew shell captoe boot in 8D Barrie and I really like them except I have a bit of an issue. I recently learned that my left foot is wider than my right and it has become quite an issue with these shoes. The right shoe fits like a glove while the left strains my instep. Not so much while sitting down but while walking, it's really tight and uncomfortable around my left instep. What would you guys suggest I do, should I switch to a pair of 8E's or is this just a part of the break in process. Thanks for looking.

Need opinions here.

What do you guys think of the brown chromexcel unlined PTB with a commando sole? So far, I have only seen this pair with the single leather sole. Will the commando sole change the look?

Shoes/boots that are uncomfortable from the start will always be uncomfortable. Especially shell as it really doesn't stretch all that much. If you still have the ability to exchange them I would. Does JCrew offer E widths?

Hi, thank you for writing. No, J Crew doesn't offer E width. The boots are lovely though. I wish I could keep them.

At least somebody feels my pain.

It's not pain, you are looking at this all wrong - none of these shoes look better new; they come into their own once they develop their unique character.

It's like my wife said when I asked her if she liked my new whiskey short wings, she shrugged her shoulders and something to the effect of "not like this, ask me again after you've worn them a few months"

IMO, she could not be more correct... nod[1].gif

So until M actually takes some real steps in his shoes, they will never reach their full potential! smile.gif

Cheers,
BN

I would try to exchange them for one size up.  If not you could try to stretch... buy a pair of shoe trees that are one size too big and let it sit in the one boot.  I did this with my RL Marlow wingtips.  The 10.5D was much too large and the 10D was okay with the length but pretty narrow.  I put a size 44-45 shoe tree (ones that look lke these...  http://www.pediwear.co.uk/saphir-shoe-care/products/5557.php) in for about a year whenever I didn't wear them.  They've stretched enough to feel pretty comfortable.  FYI, for my Marlows, there was just a little bit of stress to get the trees into the shoes.  I wouldn't force the trees into your boots if it takes a serious effort to squeeze them in.

Good luck if you try this route.

Looking for a little help with what I think is a silly question. What is the difference between a Dover and a PTB? I thought the main difference was that the PTB is lined but the Dover is not, but I could be completely off base. If the difference is lining, is there a difference in fit? I also thought I heard that the Dover is a tighter fit, which would be great based on what I'm thinking about ordering. Again, just want to be sure.

Thanks in advance.
