what are their ages? and names :P the colors are pretty damn consistent too

The trashed pair is three or four year old. Worn in the rain often and even mud a few times.
The one next to it is the same age, but worn probably 50 times.
The newer one is three year old. Worn about a couple dozen times. Never seen rain.

Ravello shell, BTW.

Take a close look at yours on the left and right side of the vamp and let me know if you have any patches where the shell is "rough" - like the surface of an orange. I have a big spot on each shoe where the shell simply isn't smooth. It isn't on the vamp, so I shrugged it off, but for the price, I'm not thrilled about the quality in all honesty...

Mine is pretty solid, the only thing I noticed was a few spots where it looks like something got caught under the finish Alden applies to the shell. I suspect that with some heavy brushing over time those will break free of that finish. Otherwise nothing else to mention and I am quite happy, I'm hoping to get some toe taps installed next week and enjoy from there.

I can't wait, it's been a long winter but seem we might have a steady run of sun for a bit.

Yes, I know what you mean on the spots - they are like dark "pieces" of the finish, right? I scraped off anything that picked up on a microfiber cloth, so mine are mostly gone.

I didn't notice the surface at first - I actually noticed it picking the up, it doesn't have the slick surface the rest of the shell does.

mdubs,

Incredible! You and MrDV have really taken the Alden game to a whole new level. I know it took some planning to make this shot happen. Well done.

There are lots of jokers out here today, mostly good humored, but I think it's likely a case or two of LWB envy. I also think this photo speaks to the positive change in your DNA over the last calendar year. I'd swear you've now got Color 2 coursing through your veins. And I think DV's blood type is Ravello positive.

Just my two cents, because that's all I have left after buying so many Aldens.

From new to trashed.

Great progression, mtc2000.

What happened to that original pair? Yikes!

Maybe it's just me and my flirtation with shabby chic, but that beat up pair of ravello lwbs could be put to good use to simply run out casually to the grocery store in some nicely faded denim and a grey tshirt or white oxford. I feel like I'd be freer to experiment with not babying my Aldens if I had extra copies of my rare shell handy.

To all the gents who posted today, wonderful work. Dubs and DV, you guys make me feel like it's not even worth it to attempt to contribute pictures to this awesome thread. Bravo on the 2 by the beach shot.

I feel like I would try to fix them, regardless of beating them into the ground.

I'm afraid I only have one (gorgeous) pair, gents.

Wait to give a guy performance anxiety!
