The wrinkling in these looks really bad:

CXL can be tricky from my experience, they need to be very selective in the cuts that get chosen for places like the vamp. It can crease very badly sometimes.

My CXL PTB suffer some a lesser version of what that auction shows and would probably be much worse if it was unlined.

My AE Bayfield have some of that type creasing on one side of them, the other side and the vamp are perfectly fine. The leather is in great condition but for whatever reason decided to crease that way.

I think that's about what you can expect from the unlined, chrmxl PTB.  I suppose you can get slightly better results with a better fit and better care (i.e. shoe trees), but that leather is so supple and soft that you may not be able to avoid this outcome if you wear it frequently (3-4 times per week).

Can anyone who owns this pair comment?  I am definitely interested in this make-up and I'm ready to pull the trigger, but I also fear that they will look like this after a few months of frequent wear.

Thanks in advance...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these natty PTB's lined?  I think you can expect greater creasing than this with the unlined brown chrmxl PTBs.   Also, are your AE boots made with chrmxl??

My Leffot CXL longwings (both natural and brown) had the same type of wrinkling in the vamp. Shame as I really liked the color of the natty longwings and the casual utility of the brown CXL longwings. Both were sold. .

Those suede wingtips look great guys (tan and snuff)!  I have some AE tan shortwings, so now I really have to get some Alden snuff suede longwings...

Vicious yes these are a 8.5d barrie last. I am sure once you get the house you will come across a pair, at least I hope they do for you.

AofC color 8 wingtip boots. Really like how these have broken in, and their versatility. I prefer them to the J Gilbert captoe boots.
