I think a lot of retailers preach this, but only AoC practices it.  Would love to here otherwise if anyone has a story about when they were refused a return.

Then I will lambaste you for attempting to return shoes with signs of try-on.

I know Moulded shoe let me try shell on in store, but said if I make a single crease I have to buy them.

Wonder how it would have played out if you creased them and then refused to buy them.

BTW, I think it is a great policy.

I appreciate Kathy at Alden DC's approach to trying on shell shoes. When I told her that I would try not to crease the shoes while trying on in store she asked me how I expect to know if they're comfortable before I purchase them. I don't understand why some people get so bent outta shape when shoes are slightly creased when purchasing. As long as the soles are unblemished and there aren't any visible scratches from wearing then it's no big deal.

Many of my favorite shoes (color 8 BB wingtips, color 8 PTB bought on EBay, black cordovan NST, etc) had signs of try on when purchased new... It's hard to regulate try on behavior in store. The best you can do is have a few "beater" pairs in each size.

Suited and booted in #8 today!

Isetan in tokyo also has a few models but nothing of rare shell. Though they are worth visit just with the incredible amount of shoes they have. Nothing over 42.5 except for a few lobbs I believe though

Thanks for the input, guys.  I will check them out.  Yeah, I'm trying to find an excuse to go to Paris to visit Anatomica.

I'm able to tell if they fit without creasing them.  Its not the end of the world if they are slightly creased, but it is not ideal either.  I do get bent out of shape, however, if they are severely creased.

Edit: I understand that retailers want to be accommodating and might feel unreasonable demanding that customers don't walk while trying on shoes.

Color 8 today...

(Weather is warming up a bit so I snagged the LHS this morning.)

Color 8 yesterday...

My J Crew PCT boot hasn't gotten much wear in the year that I've owned them, but yesterday's wear reminded me of what a wonderful boot this is.  Absolutely love.  This pic does not do it justice!

Wow, I was about to pull the trigger on color 8 NSTs, but I am pausing for a moment to reconsider.  Okay, NSTs are it.  Saddles will have to wait, but maybe not for long.

Now I have called jcrew and emailed said pictures and they refunded me half the 519 I paid with tax so I got them for 260 for that price I can except the scratch

Wow, that's a hell of a deal.  Next pair I order from J Crew, I'll put them on and wear them on my driveway for 2 minutes, snap some pics, and walla... deal of the century!
