Does the widest part of your foot end up way short of the widest part of the shoe? The reason I ask is because Barrie lasted boots do fit differently than Barrie lasted shoes. My Barrie boots fit a bit snugger in the width than my Barrie shoes. I have never heard of you not having to size down for JC or BB shoes.

I would add that the BB line has several different lasts that are not found elsewhere unlike the majority of the Jcrew line which use the Barrie last.  There are many different tips and size comparisons in this thread for the BB lasts, and not one sizing solution that encompasses the entire line, and if at all interested in those I would highly recommend looking into the nuances.

Like Tifosi has said I too agree that the jcrew Barrie boots I have purchased do feel to me to be tighter width wise than Barrie shoe counterparts.  Most people do not feel the difference is enough to make a size change, for me I am starting to consider them to be a bit too snug for my liking, and if there was the option to change widths I probably would.

+1, couldn't agree more.

All good! I swear I saw something (maybe in a classifieds post) about someone's BB PTBs saying NOT to size a half size down.

Anyway....the widest part of my foot seems to line up with the widest part of the shoe for the most part, but if I slide my foot all the way forward, I can easily slide my index finger in behind my heel and the back of the shoe, So I'm a bit worried about heel slippage.

Maybe I'm being too worried about it? Maybe worth just fixing with heel pads considering I got a $680 shoe for $505 brand new?

Sidenote: this is making me realize how lucky I am to have the biggest stress of my day today is the correct sizing of a luxury shoe. Plenty of people with much bigger problems.

$175 for a properly fitted shoe, all things considered, is actually a small price to pay. An ill-fitting shoe will see nothing but the back of your closet. biggrin.gif

you definitely size down on the jcrew barrie, just like every other barrie.

I thought I had read that the "large retailers" (ie BB and J Crew), they adjust the sizing so that you don't have to size a half size down for the Barrie last. My barrie Indy is a size 10 and those fit great. Maybe I thought J Crew would make sure to put on the website to size down half a size. Looks like I have a pair of shoes that are a half size too big.

I believe they do, at least they have in years past.

[Edit: just checked, they do not anymore... not sure why)

They did but now it looks like JCrew has unintentionally left this out on the description for the 975 that is now up.

Different  shoe and different last.  However, there is considerable disagreement over sizing for that particular shoe (BB PTB).  many go tts and many others size down (it's a tweener).  For barrie, I'm not sure anyone goes tts with it... much too voluminous!

I strongly recommend returning/exchanging that size.  Heel and tongue pads cannot make up for improper fit.

You are absolutely correct about stress and perspective.  Best of luck finding a solution that keeps the savings in hand!

Color #4 BIN for $640 shipped. Tempted but it's gonna be a little too big for me. If it's here when I wake up no promises

^^^ I actually prefer this version to the Leather Soul version (The color 4 saddles).  It looks more traditional.  Unfortunately, half size too big and half too wide...

Wonder if heel and tongue pads could make it work? :nest:

That is why no one has snagged them thus far.  Exercise good judgment my friend.  Wait for the right size and style...
