Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

At the same time, I have to respect that he is not afraid to march to the beat of his own drum.

I'm sure he's part of a WAYWT thread somewhere with thousands of posts and likes.

If he really is wearing them like that, then yes, comical yet self-confident . . . but he also might be at a vintage or thrift shop, trying on a great selvedge find that he would then shorten after purchase.  Just sayin'!

Nope, I was behind him in line at lunch.  I snapped the pic on my phone.

Again, talk to your friendly neighborhood JC personal stylist and see if you can lobby for them to honor the prior price less than 24 hours after the change was made. YMMV, but if you ask around enough, you stand a chance of finding a flexible stylist who is glad to get you the reduced price for the sake of their sales numbers and commission. It can't hurt to ask.

If it was a normal 20% discount that happened to apply to aldens by mistake I would do it. But the fact that it was meant solely for cardholders makes me wonder how I should frame the question without being pigeon-holed into signing up for a card (which by the way guys is a bad idea).

This is where it helps to have a long-standing prior relationship with JC personnel. I don't buy so many clothes from them nowadays, but find that when picking up sale items, little purchases such as socks or belts or gifts for the wife, I always go through my JC personal stylist (even if I can get it at the JC in my downtown area) as she is often willing to give me expedited shipping for free or discounts I may not necessarily be eligible for. I've seen JC staff make so many arbitrary decisions about pricing (e.g., some honor the educational discount on top of 40% off sales, some honor the ed discount on Aldens, whereas others don't do anything special) that I don't think it's outrageous to start by saying you saw on the forum that the price had been different yesterday and would the JC folks consider honoring yesterday's price. No need to start giving up too much info about the credit card issue, which the staff may not even be thinking about in the moment. I wouldn't worry too much about JC; it's all profit to them. They seem glad to invest in a long-term relationship with a customer rather than get caught up in what amounts to nickels and dimes.

Why?  Just wondering.  I have a card and certainly haven't regretted getting it.

Just a few more inches and he would have hit the knee. Now we need a WAYWT where the person cuffs their entire inseam.
