Sazon, quit derailing this thread with unicorns.
Let's focus on things I may actually get to buy some day if I win the lottery, like Porsches and such.

Your boots are freaking awesome.

Right now I'm thinking of either bringing two pair or just one and buying a pair of shoes in Paris if I can find something smile.gif On the short list are chamois ranger mocs on crepe, #8 LWB on double leather, cigar indy on com and/or #8 captoe boot on commando.

The only thing is I'm a little hesitant to spend $900+ on shell boots in France. I would have to find something show stopping to throw down that kind of money. From what it seems European retailers are especially short on rare shell. The ones I've emailed are unsure if they will ever get non-#8 and black shell again.

Hearing things like this^ and the 600+ for suede from LS have 100% reaffirmed my decision to pull out of (bnib) Alden. Nonsensical.

Sazon, I admire your graceful steering (pun intended) of the thread away from cars and back to Aldens.

P.S. the boots are indeed awesome

After exchange rates, Alden tan suede boots with shipping cost me $680 CAD which is insane (plus local 13% tax after customs = $768 CAN).

I like Alden but this is a bit too much for suede. I'm currently waiting for J Crew Color 8 captoe boots that I got for insane promo price of $533 + NY state taxes and this might be my last Alden for a bit (I hope, unless I can resist Color 8 Tankers and Indy on Plaza last).

I'm moving into more Carmina and Edward Green + I have some Vibergs. I have recently tried EG Galway on 82 last/dark oak calfskin and was very happy with fit/looks/quality.

...which has led me to really think about what models I have and still "need."

I have the following:
#8 cap toe boot
#8 Dovers
#8 LWB
Ravello medallion cap toe shoes

Expected:
Cigar cap toe boot
Ravello cap toe boot

Anything essential I'm missing? Thinking #8 LHS but I can't think of anything else.

Since we talked about Unicorns today...Sazon proves they used to exist at some point in time.  Whats your 1 pair of grail Aldens?  You can only claim 1 pair, and how much would you pay to get a pair of those grails BNIB?  This is of course wishing upon a star.  I'm just curious to see what that 1 pair would be, and how much you would spend?

For me I'm going to say #4 Wingtip boot just like Sazon has.  I would take anything #4, but if I could have anything I want that would be it.  i reserve the right to change my mind if somebody posts a better option.  I would pay up to $1,400 for a #4 WT boot BNIB.  Keep in mind it takes 4 horses to make mine.  I'm a 13D or bigger in a boot depending on last.

See Ya,

Steve

I would pay $1500+ and throw in a kidney for #4 Tankers on commando.

Where are you getting the Ravello Captoe boots? Ravello LHS is on my list of must haves, but I absolutely love the Ravello Indy on Plaza that MrDV has...

I would pay full retail and throw in both hoit1981's kidneys for sazon's used #4 wt boots.
I have 2 other alden unicorns. I need to harvest some kidneys.

How expensive are Vibergs in Canada?  I'm a fan but there's too much of a built-in premium (at least in the US) for me to pull the trigger.

I'm on the Leffot day tripper pre-order. I'm sure they'll get made at some point even if it's a few more years. Some day...

That's a great question. I really couldn't say, but there is always hope.
