The thing that doesn't make any sense is how 9.5D is tight, but just one width up in 9.5E is much too roomy. There's no size in between those two, so if neither of them fit then the boot probably won't work for OP's foot. Maybe try a 9E? Based on the description of how the 9.5E felt (good in width but too long), a 9E may work. If a cordovan boot feels tight at first, it's not going to stretch all that much with wear.

I was thinking a 9E would work as well. Just wanted to see if anyone else had experience with this specific boot because the cordovan seems to create a different fit for trubalance boots

That's what caused me to recently get rid of some shoes as well. I figured I would consolidate a bit but then I just replace them with something else. :brick:

I guess I didn't tell the whole story. Part of the reason for getting rid of some boots is to allow me to purchase new ones as my interests and priorities change.  What this means that I have to sell way more than I intend to purchase in the near term so that I can start wearing what I'm going to keep more often.  Does that make any sense?  Uh, on second thoughts, maybe not.  :satisfied:

The first time I bought from AoC, Adam specifically asked me if I'd been fitted on the particular last I was buying.  I'm sure he asked you the same thing, but even if you hadn't been it sounds like you gave him plenty of info, and I doubt he would have sold you what he sold you if he thought it wouldn't fit.  Adam is a good guy and you ought to be able to work with him on ultimately getting it right.  Even two exactly the same shell pairs can vary in fit - sometimes you have to just keep trying until you find the ones.  A pain in the @ss, to be sure, but welcome to Internet shopping.

Yes, Adam has been very great to work with. Thanks for the info on Shell variations in fit, helpful to know.

Anyone have boots they want to get rid of sized 8 3E in Barrie or Trubalance? I didn't want to wait for a special order, but looks like I might have to. At least I've figured out my size.

I picked up both yesterday. Never used the site, but great prices. They also have some Momotaro 0702s on there for $189.

Why don't you call The Shoemart and see if they have any seconds in your size?

I apologize for my earlier comment since it appears you have been sized and are just having issues with this particular shoe. Each shoe even if it's on a similar last seems to be a bit different but in general I would assume you'd be a 10.5 C on anything Barrie or Trubalance.

That seems really far down from an 11C, How would that work for you lengthwise? I can't even seem to go down to an 8 in the Alden chukkas from my normal 9 without my toe feeling like it's too close to the tip of the shoe.

That's what I ended up doing too. Sold my AS Hannovers, AS Charltons, and Loake Kemptons to pay for the Alden CT shell boots. I wanted to get rid of ones I hardly wore or where the fit might have been less than perfect for something I'd expect to get much more use out of.

It still sounds to me that he's going about this through trial and error and not actually being fitted at an Alden store. I could be wrong and if he comes on here and says that he has been fitted in the past, I'll apologize and admit my mistake.

I agree, he didn't need to mention sneaker size.  But how many of us have been to Alden dealer to be "fitted"?  For many going to Alden DC, Madison, or SF just isn't possible.  Isn't the process of "being fitted," trial and error anyway, even at an Alden dealer?  You get measured on a Brannock device, and the SA brings out a size or two and you figure out which fits the best.  He has his trubalance size, 9.5C in an Indy and loves it, but for some reason the shell boot on the trubalance last in the same size doesn't work.  Not sure why he deserves to be antagonized and ridiculed by you for asking if anyone else has had that issue with the AF43.  He can't help it that you only read/skim the parts of his text that you determine to be meaningful.

Not sure why I'm even bothering to summarize his post for you again, when you will likely only read one sentence from this post.  :dozingoff:

First pair of Alden's and first pair of natural chromexecel. I will admit I am not very knowledgeable about this type of leather so I could use advice. As I was looking over the boots I noticed a small, but given the color, noticeable blemish/stain on the left side of the left boot. Looking over the rest of the boot and the other I do not see anything similar. So my question is: would you consider this a defect and worth returning?  Or is this normal?

Thanks in advance!

I read the entire post and wasnt ridiculing him at all, just being blunt. From his comment about the sneakers and jumping around from an 11 to a 9 I suggested he needs to get fitted. Not sure why you're harping on it when I wasn't rude to him and already apologized as well. Perhaps you're the one that needs to read the entire post and work on your reading comprehension skills. Or perhaps read more than the 1 post you seem to be stuck on.

If anything, you've been much more antagonizing towards me than I was to him. I accused him of not being fitted properly for shoes while you attacked my 'reading comprehension' skills and keep assuming I'm not reading entire posts. So tell me who is the victim here?

Either way I'm done discussing this with you so move on or don't as it makes no difference to me.

I personally would not as it seems pretty tiny and you'll most likely have much worse than that on there after a few wears. But then again I have no experience with anything that light in color either.

Anyone sort out this no-more-antique-edge rumor? Just caught up with a few hundred posts. If true, that's a tremendously stupid decision by Alden IMO.
