He asked me the exact same thing a few weeks ago. I told him about what I had and how it fit but he insisted I go in to a store and get fitted and am I glad that he did. I don't think I could order Aldens from any site that wouldn't take returns because as you said they all fit differently and IMO they all look much different in person than they do in pics.

It still sounds to me that he's going about this through trial and error and not actually being fitted at an Alden store. I could be wrong and if he comes on here and says that he has been fitted in the past, I'll apologize and admit my mistake.

Friendly advice, spend less time on forums.

I can't argue with you but not much else to do when you sit behind a computer 8-5. Only so many new stories on ESPN.com each day. And this weekend I'm on-call so I'll be at my desk most of the weekend as well. With IT, even when you're working there's a lot of waiting around for stuff to process or reboot, etc. so that's how I kill time.

You folks in this thread are much more polite and intelligent than most of the internet, including some other threads on SF.

Okay, in a moment of weakness I ordered a pair of snuff suede captoe boots before the price increase. Interestingly, my normal Barrie size was way too tight. I took this as a sign from the Alden Gods. They were returned.

Of course, this does not include pre-orders or waiting lists from last year. So I have potentially 3 pair coming this year, if they ever get made !

Over the past several months, I have parted with:

Alden Whiskey LWB
Alden Cigar LWB
Alden Nat CXL Tankers
Alden #8 Indys
Alden #8 Plain Toe boot on the Plaza
Alden x J Crew CXL indys
Alden #8 LHS
Alden Blue Suede Captoe boots on the Plaza

AE #8 Shell Wingtips
AE Snuff Suede Wingtips
AE Cigar Shell Strands
AE Strand Walnut Shell
AE Walnut Park Ave
AE #8 Shell Park Ave

Alfred Sargent Captoe Boots
RedWing 8890
Red Wing 1907

I replaced a few spots with Vibergs and Oak ST trench boots, but for the most part, I'm trying to get this collection under control.

The kids need clothes and food and all this other non-sense...

I am still amazed you unloaded the AE Walnut shell Strands.

I know you loved them. (among many of the others)

Although.... Sometimes a cleanse is needed.

There used to be a saying that each day, Phil Jackson forgets more basketball than other coaches will ever learn in a lifetime.

Similarly, each year, Sazon unloads more Aldens than most mortals would ever purchase in a lifetime...

Impressive list. What Aldens did you decide to keep?

Or is that a ridiculously long list that would take a month to type? Just curious because you've always posted great pics and info.

sazon, you are an inspiration to me and have ignited some impetus in me to thin the herd, so to say.  Seeing some of the great footwear you have parted with, I should have much less reluctance than I have been feeling in doing so.  I need to start wearing the boots I really enjoy more often in my rotation than I've been doing.  Thanks for sharing.

That's what caused me to recently get rid of some shoes as well. I figured I would consolidate a bit but then I just replace them with something else. :brick:

that is an amazing goal. i hope you can resist, and making your resolution public will only help you achieve your goal.

i feel like im slowing down as well, but not ready to quit cold turkey. have purchased 2 pairs so far this year.

2. Cigar PTB
3. Ravello LWB
4. Colour 8 Tanker

I own #2 and #4 on the hunt for 1 and 3!

Anyone have experience with the AF43 Cordovan trubalance boot? I've purchased a pair and tried a couple of sizes but can't figure out what to do.

I wear a 10.5 in most shoes/sneakers. I own the Indy boot in 9.5 C and they fit great. I've tried a 9.5 D Indy and it fits fine. I've also tried a friend's 10 D trubalance boot and it's much too roomy.

So I ordered the AF43 in 9.5 D assuming it would fit fine, but it was very tight on the top of forefoot especially, even though there was room in the toes (plenty of space to wiggle them).  I tried them on on carpet and after about 10 minutes my foot wasn't numb but felt constricted. I don't have experience with new cordovan so I don't if they are just stiff in that area or the wrong size.

I swapped them for a 9.5 E and just got them, and they are comfortably fitted on the width, but they are very roomy in the toes, and there is a lot of room in the heel (I can fit more than a finger behind my heel).

Is this just how different cordovan feels on the trubalance last? Does anyone own the AF43 and find they fit differently than Indy boots, etc? Should I just get the D width and expect it to mold to my foot? It almost seems like 9.5 is a little long for me as well. Sometimes my foot feels like an anomaly in sizing.

Appreciate any input on this, it's frustrating switching sizes through the mail, but want to make sure I get the right one.
