I will say that there was a string of complaints on this forum regarding defects in multiple sizes for the UnionMade x Stevenson Indy Natural boot. I don't know how many were in that order, but at least six separate people posted pictures and complaints on this thread. The first pair that I got had a big bulge on the side of one of the boots. This was the most common complaint.

The replacement pair that they sent, which the shop supposedly QCed before sending out, had a gap at one of the toe boxes and the leather was slightly asymmetric on the boots. Perhaps I should have returned those too, but as correcting the issue had already taken more than a month and a half from my original order, I compromised my standards, and kept them (thus perpetuating the Alden QC issue vicious cycle).

Oh that Kevin...

This sounds a little better than that guy who came here and blamed it all on union labor.

I actually picked up the same pair just this week. I've never been one to like suede but these boots changed my mind.

These are fantastic, this is exactly the shade of Cigar I am hoping for with the next run of LWBs from Alden NYC

They look like today's Ravello.

My pair of Cigars are about as old as yours and are likely darker (since this was taken in the sun, something Toronto has not seen in months!)

Color 8 Indy on the Plaza. Sorry, I know a lot of you object to calling it an Indy, but I don't like typing on my iPad that much... :-)

'Twas their second voyage out. First to the office...

I have tried different options (except for the super high end like EG and G&G) and I've found that Aldens seem to fit my feet the best. I have a full foot with a high instep and a bit wider at the toes and narrower at the heel than normal and my Dovers and Indys are some of the only non-sneakers I've worn that have not caused me any type of pain or callouses after prolonged wear. I don't know how some of their other lasts will work for me, but I love the Barrie and TruBalance lasts. Although they are nowhere near as sleek as other options which is why for dress shoes I still have my C&J, Churchs, and AS.

Thanks for everyone that helped me out a few pages back with my J Crew x Alden LWB. I did get my new pair sent overnight to me and came yesterday. They look much better. Another question I have is if I should get taps put on the bottom?

One last question...Do you guys put Obenauf's LP on the bottom leather sole for added protection, or is that just a waste of time? I might be silly questions, but please don't sling too many tomatoes at me. biggrin.gif

I have put some on mine in the past before the first wear. I do not do it on subsequent wears though.

Obenauf's LP on a leather sole is a bad idea. I personally wouldn't put it on the shell, either, especially on a leather soled shoe. I just leave my leather soled shell at home if it's raining.

Sorry, I should have said they are the waxed tobacco LWB, and not shell.
