Same here. I think I'm up to 5 now with the recent order of those blue suede bluchers. Haven't really gotten in to the Alden boots or any of the nicer leather ones yet.

1. Indy from JCrew
2. unlined Dovers in brown leather
3. unlined Dovers in sand suede
4. unlined Chukkas in snuff suede
5. unlined blue suede Dovers?

You must like suede, and dovers. biggrin.gif

Nice collection. By most standards those leathers are plenty nice.

Those are awesome. On a whim I cold called J. Gilbert last night and managed to pluck this exact same boot for purchase with a delivery due in March.

If anyone here also has the Wolverine 774 LTD (perf cap toe shell boots), how would you compare the last with the Barrie?

Im thinking of getting a PTB for my next Alden purchase most likely a 990 or a colloboration version with antique trim compared to the stock dark edging.

After looking at a bunch of models online I had a quick question.

What is the difference between the PTB with the stitching that goes all the way down to the sole and the other PTB style such as the 990. Is that the only thing that makes the 2 styles different or is there something else I may be missing

vs

the 990 where the stitching stops up around the laces.

I realize these two pictures are on a different last but I believe both styles are made on the barrie as well

Great chinos as well. I don't see them on WvG's site - do they not sell those anymore?

Thanks all -

@Aldenfan, I'm not normally one for polish, but in this case, yes I did apply a layer or two of Saphir Bordeaux to the toe cap at last shine-session, about 2 months ago. Since then only brushing though.

And re: WvG Chinos, no, Mauro has discontinued this model in favor of some new creations that he has up on his site currently. Love the heft of the fabric on these though.

Both are on the Barrie last. The Dover (first picture) is unlined. The shoes, in terms of overall feel, are completely different. I am not aware of any retailer currently offering the unlined Dover version.

I wear barrie 10D and Wolverine 774 LTD 10.5D...  barrie is a MUCH better looking last than the 774

Broke in my new tankers specifically so I could wear them tonight. Date night with my wife to celebrate our dating anniversary.

Interested to see pics of your "blue" suede Dovers. I considered pulling the trigger on that very pair. I was told the petrol color was a bit of a blue-green and I decided to hold out for a true navy.

Not before first wondering to themselves if they wear the same size as Alcibiades, agonizing at the possibility that they've missed out, yet again, on rare shell!

I like the Dovers because they are unlined and I didn't really have many bluchers at the time.

As for some of the nicer leather models, I meant like the #8 that everyone covets as well as shell (which I know isn't leather at all).

It looked pretty navy from the pics but you might be right. Figured at 40% off retail it was worth a shot. I'll post some pics when they arrive. I believe they're scheduled for next Wednesday.
