I own the LWB in cigar and whiskey, and I prefer the cigar right now. It's far more versatile. I bought the whiskey version first, though, and wore it hard for years.

amftx, what exactly is a "dover" PTB? Is it the stitching attaching the vamp to the rear quarters? That's the only difference I can discern between the standard PTB and the one described as "dover" sold by Unionmade.

Well as much as I like the Shoe Mart's service, I've come to realize the irregulars list is the cock tease of the shoe world. Ordered a pair of ravello plain toes not too long ago and they confirmed they were in stock. Charged my card, sent a confirmation email. Gratuitous enthusiasm ensued. I checked the tracking every couple days and when I didn't see any progress I called and was informed that there was an error and the shoes were not in stock. Will definitely order from them again after a great experience with another shoe but I guess this time was too good to be true.

PSA: I heard from Yenni at JGilbert today. The color 8 NST boots on the Plaza have been produced and are slated to ship yet this week from Alden to JGilbert. This probably puts them at JGilbert the end of next week and in our respective homes the end of the following week. So ......... barring something unforeseen, there is an end in sight, even if a month or so late.

Appreciate it. Never got a reply from her myself.

What's your dream makeup?

Mine is a cigar wingtip boot, barrie last, brass eyelets with no speed hooks, double waterlock sole with flat welt.

Color 8 medallion cap toe boot, grant last.

IMO, it is a strictly casual shoe. But that may be what you want .....

Part of me finds these a bit odd -- light brown (informal), no brogue balmoral (formal) -- and questions their versatility, but the other part kind of finds that charming and digs them.

I think that's why i like them so much actually...my style doesn't really call for "formal" shoes often and I think these would spruce up a navy suit in spring/summer, or add a touch of dandy to jeans and jacket.

I've really never had anything like them before, so looking forwad to their arrival. full look shots en route for sure.

Very interesting shoes - I was pretty excited when I spotted them on the 'bay even though I had absolutely no thought of buying (even if they were my size whiskey just doesn't make it onto my feet very often IRL). I'm glad they went to someone on the forum so I can continue to keep tabs on them.
