I wonder if there was someone got a pair of perfect color#8 shoes or boots, specifically the leather.

If you got a perfect pair, congratz!

All of my color#8 stuff look good when I bought them in store.

But once I closely inspect them under direct sun light, all kinds of dye stain show up.

I am not defending Alden, Alden definitely did a bad job in QC and I believe they will continue to do it.

If you can't accept the defects/flaws, you should return them right away.

But if you are looking for a pair of perfect Alden shoes, look else where or you really need luck getting them.

I have the same spots on my new #8 LWB. I have decided to keep and wear the crap out of them. My new #8 Tanker boots do not have the spots though. Luck of the draw.

Wifey got them for me..

Should I be concerned with the stitching on the side welt or the wave. Also thoughts on the un even stitching on the toe( one being wider and the other pointy).

Based on prior years' history, should we expect any shell sales tomorrow, e.g., BB or RL.

It looks as if Brooks IT guys finally found a way to prevent the cordovans from going on sale with everything else so they are at full price right now. But the calf and suede Aldens are 25% off with an extra 15% off through Dec 26 (effectively 36.25% off) so that is a great deal - usually the best BB sale for Aldens is the 30% off corporate sale held a couple of times each year. If you can get a sales associate to order them for you they do not charge for shipping.

Not sure that I've ever read a post that more misses the point.

FYI there is a button called "Multi" that allows you to respond to multiple posts in one post. Just click the multi button and then at the bottom click "post reply".

Sorry, what's the point then?

I, and another SF member, have experienced similar issues with pairs of Natty CXL Indys that we purchased from Unionmade.  So that makes at least 3 of us so far.

I sent an email with photos to orders@unionmade.com and they (Anthony and Carl) so far have been extremely receptive to working out the issue, either via replacement pair or else a refund.  Your boots, like mine, seem defective and you ought to bring this to their attention.  The folks at Alden need to know that their consumers have a higher degree of expectations than their QC personnel, and that this kind of shoddy worksmanship will tarnish their brand equity.  (Case in point: refer to all the posts today about the Color 8 sloppiness.)

In any event, props to Unionmade for standing behind their product.

Agree on all accounts. Anthony responded to me tonight. He made me aware of the issues with these. First route is a replacement then we will go from there.

I got a very small oil stain on my Indy 405.  I don't wipe them or really clean them as they look better the more worn they look, but just wondering if anyone has an idea to get the stain out?  It is not really noticeable, just a dime-sized spot that is darker than the rest of the boot.  Polish did not take it out.

It will darken the leather.

Saddle soap or lexol will lighten it

I think that this is a big part of the problem.  Not saying that I am for/against unionization, but the Alden factory IS unionized (AFAIK), which I think is another variable in this equation.
