Do Gucci or Tods loafers count as nice shoes???  My first nice pair was actually a Susan Bennis/Warren Edwards that my dad bought me. If there are any older NYC stock market guys hanging around here they will likely remember them...I haven't thought about those loafers in awhile as I was like 14 when I got them

Great new topic Mike smile.gif

First nice:
I hope this qualifies: Allen Edmonds Neumora

First Alden: classic 975

First Shell: AE Burgundy Daltons

My first Alden shell was quickly followed by two more. I still like AE but have definitely been converted to Alden's Barrie last, can't get enough!

First good shoes: tan suede Polo captoes bought 35 years ago and still wearing.

First Aldens: tan calf NST

First Alden shell: ravello Brixton boots

Going beyond Alden, my first two pairs of "good shoes" were

1) Pair of black Ferragamo austerity brogues (gone)
2) Pair of black Ferragamo penny loafers (gone)
3) Pair of Gucci fit loafers (I have beat these up, resoled them multiple times and still have them and wear them a few times a year)

All purchased at age 22

In all honestly, I am thinking about getting a pair of suede Gucci bit loafers for the spring/summer. Gucci bit loafers are good shoes. The Ferragamos were way overpriced for what they were. Tods seem better in that range.

What if you had 200 pairs like Fok?

Those are most definitely a unique makeup. I am sure that there are people out there who will like them.

Stretch or Sell?

Cigar 10D in Aberdeen.  10D in barrie and trubalance fit well to even slightly large.  These are tight on the top, toes have a little wiggle room.  My cobbler stretched some Allen Edmonds shells I have but wanted the expert's opinion before taking the plunge with these.  Might be a catch and release.  (sorry about the awful color combo, wasn't expecting to get these until tomorrow)

Thanks guys.

I usually size up a half with Aberdeen.  Not sure you will see much stretch.

Nice to see you post, Tom. Understandable if you don't, but please do it more often if you have any inside scoops. Sometimes the speculation around here gets a little overwrought.

Also, a shout out to you and your staff. Some of the best in the biz!
