Tobacco Tuesday anyone?

Cigar LHS on a cool Cigar City morning.

That's grass around those shoes in case anyone forgot what that looked like.

Yes, it's crappy Florida grass, but still grass!

All the gorgeous ravello yesterday forced me to break mine out today.

The left shoe has some nice water marks from the last wear, so I'll hide that one for now shog[1].gif

Perfect timing, as I ordered my pair of Unionmade Indy Stevenson boots in natural CXL last week and they should be arriving any day now.

I saw them in person when I went to Unionmade SF a few months back. They look like a more elegant version of the standard natural CXL Indy. Specifically, it has better edging.

I don't own any Aldens with the waterlock sole, but my understanding is that it is a little more firm than the flex sole and much less stiff than the neocork sole. So, they may not be the best if they are going to be your first pair of Indys --although a standard release, nothing beats the brown CXL Indys-- but I think that they are a great addition if you are looking to add to your collection.

Those are some beautiful shoes. All three of them are terrific examples to why Alden's Shell Cordovan is in such demand.

I particularly like your sister shoe to my Cigar LWB (the two toned ones). I hope that you are able to quickly incorporate those into your shoe rotation.

-Mike

Thanks. I'll be taking the sister shoe on a European cruise tomorrow, so I'm sure they'll see some action.

What do you guys think of Paraboot shoes?quality? , I have my eyes on a pair but have never seen one in person .

Thanks.

I've owned 5-6 pairs, they are excellent shoes, built like tanks, somewhat different than Alden of course. It depends somewhat on the model too.  All of mine were purchased 4 or more years ago so I can't comment on their current production.

They were listed by Leather Soul as tan laces. You could contact them and see what they used.

They seem to just be tan cotton laces, and I have no personal experience with exact matches to those.

I can recommend two options with which I do have experience.

1.) ShoeLaceExpress flat dress laces: They're about 1/4" wide. They're reasonably priced, and only slightly elastic. They seem to hold up well, not looking ragged after a few days, and they're definitely stronger than stock Alden laces. The only downside is that they're not exactly fluffy cotton laces like Alden usually uses.

2.) TZ Laces 5mm waxed cotton: They're a little bit slimmer, about 3/16", but they're a lot thicker. They seem awfully durable, and the shipping time is better than you'd expect (a week or so). They seem to have quite a few colors, and the pictures on the site are pretty true to what I've received.

@TheSizzle, thanks again for your help. The TZ Laces are wonderful. Here's my little writeup + pic: http://jacobbockelmann.com/post/70265068909/shoelaces-are-easy-to-take-for-granted-that-is
