So that article in the WSJ titled "When all the shoes fit..." http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303497804579242313439812406?mod=e2fb

prompted my coworkers to come running to me with the cover story from the WSJ "Off Duty" section.

I was then grilled about the shoes I'm wearing today - well, they're not shoes - they're boots. They the Alden for J.Crew Cap Toe Shell Cordovan #8 Boots that I got from KWHITELAW.

Then someone shouted out...these boots from Leffot are Alden and they're $720!!

"Please tell me you didn't pay that much for them...you're sick if you did. SICK!"

Well that was awkward enough for the workplace, but then describing how I obtained them was more complex.

"Noooooo, I didn't pay that much for them - don't be silly. I got a good price on them"

"Well, how'd you do that??"

So...yes, I'm wearing shoes bought by a total stranger and sent to me in Florida, and I'm wearing them today.

^^ Thanks Tampa. I was hoping that article would be on the net somewhere. I saw it referenced on Leffot's Instagram.

I talked to Steven at Leffot about that article on Saturday. Business seems to be booming in this segment. Whenever I am in that store, people are buying Edward Greens, Aldens, Gaziano and Girlings, etc like it's nothing. Pretty amazing that a store opened like that in 2008 during the recession and has thrived since.

Little help. I normally wear 11.5 d in Indy so I went with 12 for the 1493. I don't think they fit?

Would any of you experts be willing to provide your Van vs Barrie last sizing? I have seen the Alden of Carmel recs but would love to get a few real world examples...

Might just be the picture, but these look like Leffot's #8 LWB with antique edge to me. I'm not sure I've ever seen a Cigar LWB with a double oiled sole like the one in this picture, they are usually just standard double leather

Agreed - those don't look like cigar to me.

I wear 10D in both the Van and Barrie last.

Looks like ashlandleather.com has some good shell color wallets back in stock.

Fat Herbie in whiskey, and Louis Little New York in Ruby.

See Ya,

Steve

After a lot of work and trying on different sizes. I am a 10D in both as well. The Van was particularly challenging for me to get to work for me.

I'm having tech difficulty. I have an advertisement banner covering my reply to quote option on my iPhone. It's at the bottom.
This one has "adding a little dapper to any dull day"

Any ideas on how to get rid of it? Thanks.

I managed to figure it out actually. Simply swipe right to left across the banner to get rid of it and expose the Quote and Reply (and Cancel) buttons. (You may have to start on the blue icon...)

Wonderful. A great addition to your already-fantastic collection.

Thank you all. I am very excited to finally have these incorporated into my collection. It was kind of fun, as I got to wear them to the Alden DC shop and got to show them my new prizes, which I think they appreciate.

I saw her list today of people on the Cigar Cap Toes. She literally had two pages of names interested in the boots.

A huge thank you to REguy for the NSTs. He was a pleasure to deal with.

In sunlight, the color of the Cigar LWB looks closer to the Ravello NST (which I'm assuming is new Ravello) than to the Cigar NST.

Sir,

Those are some beautiful shoes. All three of them are terrific examples to why Alden's Shell Cordovan is in such demand.

I particularly like your sister shoe to my Cigar LWB (the two toned ones). I hope that you are able to quickly incorporate those into your shoe rotation.
