I can't stress enough how awesome they are to deal with plus the laces are made in the USA!

It's a shame they don't make black or brown versions...

This could be a nice little primer for the folks that come on and ask general questions about Alden.

Nicely done by Need Supply:

Personally I think this should be a sticky at the top of the thread but who am I?

By the way does anyone know if I should size a half size down on the Barrie? bounce2.gif

What's a Barrie?

I know a couple of weeks ago someone was hoping the last size 12 pair cordovan longwings from J. Crew would be purchased in hopes of a restock. I heard today J. Crew will be releasing #8 longwings next week some time and luckily they won't be crepe sole!

Deliverance-

I'm very happy, good fit, no production issues.  My first pair of JCrew, and my first pair of shell cordovan boots.

Wahoo!

See Ya,

Steve

And why are they called Indy Boots? smile.gif

If we're going to crib some of the NeedSupply info, maybe we could put together some guidelines for sizing on various lasts. Also, I know the AE-Alden sizing interpolation issue gets raised a lot too. Maybe we could address that one. Also, maybe we could create a list of Alden retailers organized by geographic location.

If only I was as systematic about approaching my billing issues with insurance companies. I'd have lots more money for some extra pairs of shell.

There isn't a lot I wouldn't do for that bag. shog[1].gif

Thanks blue, I only wish. Too rich for my blood.
Thanks jermynstreet, your conclusion has helped ease my pain. I think the bag looks amazing, but if it's not shell whiskey, then I don't feel bad for not buying it at that price. If it is shell like alden shell I think it's worth it. If it is some other kind of horse hide I would like it for under 1k.

While it doesn't specifically say "SHELL" cordovan, it still looks to me more like shell than regular horsehide.

My guess is that whoever wrote the description isn't enough of an expert to have known to specify "Shell Cordovan".

That's a very cool looking bag.  I'm under the impression there's only 1 type of cordovan, and it only comes from the rear of the horse.  Anything else can be horsehide, but it can't be cordovan.  So either this bag is Cordovan, or it's not properly described because Cordovan is clearly used in the description.  Based on what I've seen being charged for European WW2 Aviation jackets using horsehide...the price for the bag appears to be based on Cordovan, not horsehide.  Either way its very cool, and very expensive too!  I think MrDV needs to wait for a sale!

See Ya,

Steve

P.S.-I bet Nick Horween could answer the question about the hide on this bag!

I was under the impression all shell is cordovan but all cordovan isnt shell
