Yeah, CXL / waxhide Indy Boots were originally meant to to be worn either out on the field or in a factory. But the majority of Alden boots sold can't really be classified as work boots. Most of them are dressy casual or straight up dress boots (my black captoes or color 8 wingtips go well with suit and tie). Even the popular CXL models are more dress casual boots...

Spoilers, Gents. Please.

Public Service announcement:    Just got a call from Alden NYC.  They just got a limited run approved by Alden for 20 Whiskey and 20 Cigar Longwings.   Taking pre-orders now.  Give them a call or stop by if you are looking for either of these.

I fell in love with this model that I just tried in a French shop:

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 90
http://www.frenchtrotters.fr/boutique/fr/1108-cap-toe-boots-cordovan-8.html

The problem is my size was not available (looks 9D would be great since 8,5D was tight and 9,5D too roomy) and they don't expect to receive new stock.

I'm willing to make them ship from the US. Any advice where I could find the exact same configuration? Meaning:
- color Cordovan 8
- tip toe
- commando sole
- eyelet lacing

I find this one that come close but seems to be only available in black:

Thank you mates smile.gif

FWIW, the French Shop's model is quite rare in that it is a captoe boot on the Trubalance last.

Interesting.

Get them both, if you are able. If only one, get cigar. nod[1].gif

I tend to allow all of my shoes/boots to cool (15 minutes or so) prior to inserting trees.

Thanks for the heads up.  I was on the list but they had not called yet.  Ordered both colors!  This is a pre-pay!

See Ya,

Steve

I agree that it's best to allow the shoe to vent and cool off a little before you put in the shoe tree.  Your foot sweats even when you foot does feel sweaty its giving off moisture in the form of a vapor which wicks into the inner liner.  Since the leather is warm, when you remove your foot the area around your foot becomes cooler allowing the water vapor to wick back out of the leather.  Whatever moisture is left will be absorbed by the shoe tree.

That's my air conditioning and heating background opinion. and I'm sticking with it, or is stinking with it?

See Ya,

Steve

Both are great models. I am thinking about it, but may pass as I own a similar model (color 8 / antique longwing) and have one on order (tan suede longwing). I don't really wear whiskey bluchers enough to justify two models. I am really waiting on a whiskey LHS to pop up...

The LHS is literally the only Alden model where my first preference of shell color is whiskey. A great Spring/Summer shoe. And of course capable of year 'round wear as well.

Passing but that is a nice development and a great PSA too. Hopefully there is more to come.

Thanks rtp. Get them both, that's the holiday spirit. I wish I would have pulled the trigger on the "jcrew ravello lwb w brass eyelets" I didn't because I already have ravello lwbs. Now I regret it.

Were you able to order any size you wanted as long as you paid in full upfront, or was it just general stock sizes? If so, I'll be really tempted for the Cigar LWB, but I really don't have the cash on hand to pay upfront unfortunately.
