Beautiful boots my friend. They are developing a very nice patina, especially under the laces. Shine is impressive as always.

Hi guys, should I be concerned about a bent speedhook and some spots missing paint/dressing? First Alden's WOOHOO! I literally checked the Jcrew website twice a day religiously for a month and half for these babies.

Can I use some of my Allen Edmonds edge dressing for this? Is that a really dark brown, or black?

They look very nice to me. I had a bent speedhook on my Crocket and Jones for Ralph Lauren Gianni Moc Toe boots. I just bent them back with plyers. Just use a soft cloth to prevent you from scratching.

I use AE Black Edge Dressing on all of my Color 8 shoes. Makes them look beautiful again... :-)

Won't fix it in one go, but do that for a few months regularly and the texture will be fixed.

try the mac method for shoe care. it has been successful in the past in situation like your. do the method for several day just using the vigorous brushing

thank you gentlemen.. I almost covered two tshirts in cordovan color with very little change to the shoe. I'll keep working on them, worst case, will just send to alden for the resole and have them work the uppers. anything they do will be an improvement

As recent post about the new Ludlow shoe at Jcrew figured I would give my two cents. As a avid Alden wearer, I  find the fit/look/feel to be very similar with the Barrie. Very happy with the shoe.

I'm and 8.5 in the Barrie and 9D in the Grant, I'm looking at a pair of unlined suede loafers in the Van last. 8.5 too?

That sounds about right. I wear same size in the Barrie and Van last.

I'm looking for a pair of shell captoe or plain toe boots in grant or plaza last in 9E or barrie in 8.5E and I seem to be SOL unless I want to preorder from J Gilbert and wait a few months.  I've been looking all day, now, so I figure I'd ask here just in case before a sale might end.  I'd also be willing to buy a pair used if anyone is offering.

I believe the Van last is more true to size compared to the Barrie, which most folks would say runs half size large. I wear an 8.5E on the Barrie and a 9E on the Van.
