Your very welcome tifosi. I've been wearing my Epaulet cxl Indy's every day to work since I got them. When I get home it's probably going to be the Leffot #8 Naval boots. There are so many cool Alden shoe make-ups, but I'm rapidly becoming an Alden boot guy.

No shipping notice yet, but my credit card was just charged for the J Crew #8 cap toe boots originally estimated for early December (from last coupon).

Okay, so I was setting up the question a few days ago, but here are the Color 8 LHSes that I got from a store that was discontinuing Alden Shoes and was selling their floor models. I also posted a picture of the Sole of one of my newer shoes (Whiskey LWBs). Both the color of the sole and the Shell Cordovan Stamp has changed. Anyone have any clue how old the LHSes are? I think you should also be able to read the printing in the first picture. Thanks!

Hard to tell, but no soles are going to look like that after being worn in the real world.  My guess is that they sat around for some period of months, and no one ever really thought to give them any care.

I picked up a pair of New Old Stock Aldens that had same horween logo as yours and I believe the sole was darker too. They were 10-15 yrs old. I can't say exactly when they switched to the new horween logo.

Can anyone give me a recommendation on using oil to protect the soles of Alden shoes.

I have a jar of Footjoy "Mars" oil that is used on leather soled golf shoes to keep them waterproof and protect the leather from drying out.

Any idea if this product would be beneficial to use on my leather soled Aldens?

Thanks

sweet looking loafers. I do not know how old, but they look very nice. it seems like the shell cordovan stamp was placed lower and will survive daily wear. all of my aldens lose that writing within the first couple of outings.

^^ Nice, MrDV. I need to find a better backdrop for my daily pics like you. The office desk background doesn't do my footwear any justice!

MrDV, those are my favorite Alden saddles. I slept on them and regret it, but I'm glad to see someone enjoying them.

Yes, but I think that we would all be hard pressed to maintain a lawn like his... :-)
