Pick one of these boots:

Jcrew 403
Jcrew Snuff Indy
Jcrew natt. CXL on Commando (the new one)

Keep in mind that this will be my only boot ,I'll wear it exclusively with denim and chinos, comfort is very important, no snow here but I should be able to wear it on light rain.

Thanks.

I like them, but the shoe for the photo is terrible. "Hand stained"...with massive drips all over the toe and uneven around the bottom.

I'll be the heretic and suggest the CXL, but only if they are closer to the ones offered by Leffot in real life (but on commando).  Photos are indeed garbage.  Looks like they tried to glop on product, pre-shoot, and nobody noticed it looked awful.

Anyway, I had the snuff Indy and sold it.  Was really comfortable at first but a bit too wide for my narrow feet.

Then again, most photo representations of Alden shoes online don't look quite right.

The Shoemart's stock photos are rubbish, but Unionmade can even make an ugly shoe look appealing.

Picked up a couple of eBay scores this week. Monk straps for $100 and full straps for $150 including the original box and trees.

The monk straps looked like this upon arrival...

And like this after some Reno, Alden cream, and vigorous brushing......

A little tight for my Barrie foot but perfect for my youngest son who recently graduated from Pitt. Nice way to introduce him to his first Alden shells. He looks at me with this 'I don't get it' look when he see's me caring for my shoes. He has a decent selection, but no shell. We'll see how he reacts.

I have been on the hunt for these after seeing uncle Mac sport his....

No before pics as they were in pretty good shape when they arrived. I did apply a little Reno and of course, brushed vigorously.

I'm done for a while. Got to stop buying Alden's. I did call Alden of DC around noon to inquire about the size 9 ravello LWB's. They did have one pair and it was really tempting. The salesperson indicated that they were the darker ravello and had a couple of try-on creases. If they were the lighter version or if they would have taken a little off for the creases, I would have likely pulled the trigger. My last two shell purchases (whiskey and 8 LWB's) we're discounted and I just wasn't ready to pay $730. But I certainly don't blame AofDC for not discounting them as I doubt that they will have difficulty selling them at full price.

Unionmade just posted up an interesting make-up. I wish they hadn't done a black/brown mash-up because I would've bought either one had it been a single color. At least it's not loden green...
