Same here. I doubt I would have even noticed that.

And welcome.

This is absolutely true.

Any of you kind gents have any experience with snuff suede chukkas with the captoes being lighter than the other parts of the shoe? Is this a defect? If not how would you fix?

I bought a pair of 403s this past weekend, and was sized for a 9.5E at the NY store (little surprising since I'm a 9.5E on the Allen Edmond's 5 last and had heard to size down).

Now I'm nervous these will turn out too large after breaking in! I imagine I'm younger than most Alden clientele, and was a little reluctant to push the salesman (3 decades of experience) on the sizing.

Someone console me? Have others not sized down on Trubalance?

I wear the same size in Alden TruB last as I do in AE's 5 last - 9D.

I am TTS 9.5D.

That pic downplayed it a bit, but I was able to push some of the bump back out.

Moot point now, already set my creases so they're staying. Atleast until I get an itch to sell

I've been very unimpressed with the guys in NYC. I know my size, and I know Alden's lasts. They've tried to sell me shoes that were obviously not on the last they claimed they were as well as trying to put the squeeze on me to purchase sizes that don't fit by saying they'll fit once they break in, the shell will stretch to fit, etc. I don't buy from them anymore because of this. Others have had better experiences.

I don't normally like short wings with a lot of casual looks, especially denim, but I think the Alden alpine grain leather combined with the short wing would work really well for quite a bit. And if you really wanted a commando sole, you could always take it to a good cobbler near you (or send of to somewhere like the ever recommended B. Nelson in NYC) and have the soles changed.

Thanks a lot. I ordered the short wing today. Question: Do I have to break in the waterlock soles acc to the Mac method or are they supple enough to merely wear? Can't wait to get them!

Here's a comparison pic verus my ravello LWB (new stock)

Oh God, how beautiful. I want both those shoes now ... in 8.5D.

Just got into Aldens and bought three pairs in two week: 405, LWB in Walnut/ Commando sole from Unionmade and the 25%-off J.Crew LWB in Tobacco (Now delayed until January) - Gotta start somewhere. Now I want those two ...

Nice shot...with the dark shoes on light wood with dog looking up, it appears you are levitating at first glance.

Nope...at least it's not listed in the sizing drop-down box. I actually ordered a B width through LS. Leffot says you can request a non-stock size but you have to pay in full upfront, which I actually wouldn't mind doing usually, but last time I asked them they denied my request. I would try it again, but I don't want to lose the non-refundable deposit on my order with LS by jumping on this one instead. I think about 2 months ago LS told me that the wait was still about 6 months, so it should only be 4 more months now. There were a couple other shoes on Leffot's pre-order I was looking at though, I might ask if I can get my size in the Natty CXL LWB pre-order. In any case, the only place now that I would consider pre-ordering with is Leffot, since they only offer them after the orders are confirmed. I'll just have to hope they let me order a non-stock size.

Was told today by a stockist that my size in 975s would take 10 weeks to fill.

Guess even color 8 is getting hard to come by...

Have you brushed them?
I've started to brush mine after 2 years of wear. It changed the nap of the suede slightly. Gives them character.
