I suppose something like that could really bother a guy over time.

If you use the boot casually, some might think the very slight color difference could add a little character to its eventual patina.  I find the slight color difference in pieces of the whiskey shell LWB to be a bit interesting.  I certainly wouldn't appreciate a boot or shoe that looked like patchwork/madras pants.  I suppose I'm thinking aloud a bit.

Oh well, time to start stashing away shoe money.

:rotflmao:I wonder how many of us actually do this! Is there a class on money laundering via cream colored visa prepaid debit cards??

I proxied some J Crew Aldens for a buddy who had me order two pairs. Had to send him a boatload of pics to figure out which specific shoes met his OCD standards.

Now that is funny!  I just about fell out of my desk reading this.

Fine looking specimen there Rydenfan!  Is this of the most recent ravello offerings?  Slightly darker and reddish?  Wear in great health my friend!

Wish I had bought at least one of them before I ponied up for the 990 and 9901.  I still very much like my stock Alden PTBs.

added: The identity crisis doesn't bother me much.  The eyelets have grown on me.  When wearing a suit they are typically covered by the pants anyways.  But I can see how the more meticulous formal business dresser could be bothered.  I typically wear my Aldens in a business casual to a slightly more formal business setting.

These are the Epaulet Brixton's and not on Commando.  They are just about a year old at this point.

In last few months I have swung between the #8 straight tip.....#8 PTB....black PTB......#8 NST......black NST.....black LWB/SWB back n forth n back again. It's been mind numbing. Have you guys experienced this emotion that consumes you whole?

I'm tending to settle down for the black PTB (but I can never be too sure) because I like the shine on black cordovan, the supreme comfort of the barrie last and the understated elegance of the PTB. Your opinions are very welcome (though I'm sure they'll mess me up for a few days, haha)

PS: I have a #8 LWB, cigar NST, Ravello LWB and a black shell PCT.

Thanks! These are about probably 8 months old. They are lighter than the most recent batch. Here are a few pics I snapped that illustrate the color variation between recent batches.

Thanks for this. I am contemplating a pair that I will bring to B Nelson to get a red dainite sole and natural edge.

A PTB version of the shoe seen here.
