I'm a noob here, can you please explain further? Is one suppose to be more formal than the other?

Also still need opinions on how the lasts run. Thanks.

oxford/balmoral has closed lacing and is more formal. Bluchers are more casual in general.

Oh thank you for the help. It is quite obvious when you use the thumbnails. I like the open lacing a lot better!

Now to find out how Aberdeen Last runs compared to the others.

Mark McNairy did a longwing high boot last season, and it was a disaster. I don't think longwings work as well in boot form.

So, since I've gotten so many responses on my polish question (thanks guys!) I asked a wizened shoe man what to do with the Indy's. He told me not to use polish as the leather doesn't have a top coat. His suggestion was to clean with saddle soap and use a conditioner like Saphir or lexol. Comments?

Longwing boots with mixed grain leather and a red brick sole would be the height of the workwear fashionz debacle

Does any one know where, when, or if the cigar shell indie boot with machine stitching will be available?

Hi folks, Also -- I have a pair of 403 Indys in Brown Chromexcel that are a little scuffed up and could use some polish. Is there a particular color/color combination of Meltonian cream polish that people tend to use for that leather and color? I was at a shoe repair place (for another pair of shoes) and asked, and they recommended using burgundy, but the shoe is brown. Maybe a combination of burgundy and light brown? Thanks
