Sage advice. Thankfully my local cobbler knows not to touch the uppers. Edge dressing, however, should be encouraged nod[1].gif

Nice boots.

I own what appears to me to be the shoe version of that boot. The color of mine was/is curious - a blend of dark brown and burgundy, with burgundy, at least for my shoes, being the dominant color. I now only treat them with Alden dark burgundy shoe cream, and consider them a burgundy calf model. Mine are on the Leydon.

I now wear them for working in the yard, trouncing threw the mud, climbing over logs and rocks, etc. (about the only situation I am planning to not wear them in is in deep snow or times when there is a lot of salt on the ground). However I still clean them off and buff them out each evening and put my shoe trees in them.

I put them through the motions that they were built for but still want to maintain them.

What styles do wear most / which will survive this thinning process?

I'm not very familiar with your collection, but whiskey Indys sound like keepers.
