This may be blasphemy, but I prefer the NST pattern with more rounded / pointed toes, like Barrie and Aberdeen, as opposed to the Plaza, where the main moc toe looks too square to me. I think The Shoe Mart Aberdeen NST boots look a lot better than the Plaza version, and I prefer the Barrie Tankers over the Plaza (and Trubalance) versions. However, people love the Plaza, so carry on

I think I agreed with you until you said this.  The plaza seems to me to be at its best on a boot.  I am particularly infatuated with the plaza-lasted Indy in any shell color.  That may be the one plaza lasted Alden that I will pursue vigorously.

My JCrew sale chukkas came in this week. I've learned not to hesitate when the coupon codes work. Ill take some proper images when I get home. I didn't even take a brush to them before I left for a trip.

Those were from J. Crew (actually on sale for a pretty nice price right now). The brand is Anonymous-Ism (Tokyo)

Gents,

I am wearing AE today and therefore can't join in the reindeer games. See you soon.

Have you seen the boot you are mentioning at FransBoone?

It appears that they have a few sizes...on commando.

These Ravello from Alden DC, probably about three years ago, are a lighter shade than current.

I know I'm dreaming but I figured I'd ask the community and see if I get lucky. I have been diligently searching for a pair of LWB's, Barrie size 9, with light or antique welt. My order of preference is Ravello, cigar, whiskey and color 8. I love commando but will take any sole available. Anyone aware of any retailers who may have something like this in stock? Would gladly consider a pre-owned pair for the right price.

As always, any help is appreciated.

Maybe not as dark as the current offering, but a great shoe nonetheless.

Perty nice! Great looking combo. Who picked out the rug, and what are you sitting on? Eames no doubt.

This is overdue but here are a few comparison shots of older Alden Ravello, current Alden Ravello and AE Walnut

Awesome, thanks man. I have the RRL officer chinos but they are too long currently. I will have to do the double cuff like you have here. Looks great. I'm going to have to google it to figure out if I'm doing it right. Previous to doing some reading here, I have never attempted cuffing pants or jeans. Looks like you rolled up enough for two cuffs, then cuffed the bottom and then rolled that back up over for a double?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Great comparison, Ryden. I want to say that new ravello looks kinda AE Cappuccino-ish. A little more red, though.
Anytime you want to unload those Ravello LWB, you know who to PM...
