I am trying to keep to a total shoe pair limit, so when I buy shoes, I try to offload some. That is getting more and more difficult as I continue to optimize my shoe collection and pairs are harder to harder to part with. The issue with Alden is that new styles and pairs seem to pop up unplanned. It is almost impossible to know what is on order and in what size across all retailers.

I do not need to get started on shell dress shoes! Eveything I have so far, except for one pair are casual. I don't have the need to wear a suit often so one pair of black shell bals will really be all I need. I have a #8 wingtip bal that is quite versatile.

True, I've been refreshing my wardrobe recently with some slimmer cuts. I think that (along with watches) will be where I spend more of my time over the next year or so.

That's funny cause I have gone the opposite way..I have allocated more funds to shoes than watches this year and probably from now on.

You guys are really running down the rationalisation road at full tilt. If I bought a stainless steel Patek sports watch would it tell me a different time than my Rolex even though it costs eight times as much? This weekend I also saw a sports car that my GF said I didn't need. It was a black-on-black Porsche Carrera 4 convertible, and I want one. Unfortunately the speed limit on my street is still going to be 30mph and I'd do better just walking to the store in my Alden shells. Rats, foiled by pragmatism again.
