Ari Gold, nice shine and patina on both of those.

I'd suggest adding color 8 to the rotation. Wingtip balmoral or captoe blucher maybe? Or an unlined PTB if you can find one. Then you would have black, burgundy and brown, all you really need for a workweek wardrobe.

Grandpa Ari, long time no hear, my friend! Do you happen to know if the Alden for BB is any different than the stock Alden perf cap toe bal?  Is yours on the snap last and the Alden stock on the Hampton last?  Are they about the same?

Thanks bro (I mean gramps)...

AriGold, those are quite well cared-for, I'd hardly call them "beaters" satisfied.gif

Arigold, a great looking pair of shoes you have there sir. They look well worn and well cared for. I hope my RL Marlows grow up to look like yours one day.

+1 on adding a PTB. An Alden 990 or a 9901 could work for you Ari. Personally I like my RL Marlow PTB's a lot. Any way you go, judging from the condition of your "daily beaters", they'd have a home where they'd be loved.

Hey guys, I need your opinions please. I just received these chukkas as irregulars from the shoe mart. As you can see, one toe has a spot on it from something. Can I get this out, or do you think I should just return them? Thanks very much. e5ysu8a8.jpg

I'm curious to hear if anyone has acquired an Alden shoe that is:

  1. considered quintessential Alden (or is featured heavily in this thread), such as the 975 or 990, only to find they get little use out of it, or
  2. not commonly featured in this thread, such as the 2160 or 994, and found they get a lot of use out of it.

If so, some elaboration for either case would be particularly interesting.

my most worn pair, no contest, is my LHS in Color 8. my least worn pair, probably indy boots? i only wear them in crap weather. too clunky most of the time, otherwise.
