I'd like to say one of the top 3 boots to EVER come out of the Alden factory.
just awesome DV
What are the other manufacturers of shell cordovan shoes/boots that are at the same/similar price point? Carmina will cost a minimum of $100 more than Alden for similar models. C&J is also significantly more expensive.
Please, AE provides a better shell cordovan product than Alden?? I have never owned any Rancourt so I can't speak to its quality.
I will concede that Alden and Carmina calf offerings are pretty close in price and that Alden's calf offerings (most are over $500 now) are probably overpriced; I like it but won't buy it. "Similar price points" aren't defined by what one can afford; price actually needs to be similar. IMO, $685 and $825 is a significant enough difference (Carmina is a 20% increase from the Alden price). Regardless, I prefer Alden's lasts and shell finishing to Carmina's. Also, for all of the complaints that hear/read about Alden, I haven't had any issues with any of the pairs I've bought. I do recognize that I am a small sample size though.
Go back and read his post again before you get huffy puffy. He asked about a shoe company that makes shell boots/shoes at the same or a similar price point to Alden....AE and Rancourt fit the bill. Not to mention it's easy to do MTO with AE shell. There was no mention of the quality.
I'm not debating that, nor was it ever brought up, I was answering the original persons questions for other companies that offer shell at the same or similar price points.
