very interesting!  I had the same thing on these exact boots.  Mine have been worn about 18 times (OCD).  The blotches are only really noticeable in bright light.  And I'm pretty sure I did not spill any liquid on the boot (just one boot has the spotch).

yeah, you can also see how much lighter the vamp is now compared to the toe cap. also the color 8 shell is a lighter than typical #8 shell and resembles ruby shell more than burgundy or eggplant. Jcrew boot on left side and Grant last on right. Both worn same amount of times

Your timing is impeccable, as this is the shoe we were just discussing.

Also, It doesn't take long to fall behind on this thread.

I look at my selection and think I've got enough color 8. Then I see beauties like these and realize that it's impossible.

Yeah, still waiting...I actually got refunded the money I paid for them, but I'm still first on the list for my size if they get made.

Congratulations. The captoes look great, I'd love a pair.

NAMOR - thanks for posting the "blotch" images. Perhaps it's not all that uncommon - perhaps some of us have shell with blotches but haven't noticed ...? I'm going to get a better look at my NST Saddle bluchers tomorrow under what I hope will be sunny skies.

I'm looking at the shoes right now with indoor lighting and can't see it at all. Still, I'd like to hear what Alden has to say about it. If they're willing to re-dye them them I will take a chance and keep them.

By the way, I think the latest J Crew PCT 8 boots are quite dark.
