First trip out with my new Cigar LHS. Clors a bit off pants are rust.

That may be bc of the usual antique edge and welt that accompanies cigar.  The contrast is eye-grabbing, and looks great.  Some of my rich, ox-blood-like color 8 shells (PTB in particular) attract a bunch of comments and compliments.

I really like these. These were my first pair of Aldens and I bought them before I knew anything about exotic shell colors or the "shell shortage". I just bought them cause I liked them. Now I think I appreciate them even more with what I have learned about Alden and shell cordovan.

I tell my son all the time not too judge how people spend their money. Spend your money on what brings you joy and that will be different for different people. For me to take a shot at someone for spending $600 or $6,000 on jeans was not only judgmental, it was also hypocritical. Shouldn't have happened. Especially since there is no one I know who would understand me dropping $700 for a pair of shoes.

Related to some other comments on the subject, I think those big boxy square-toed shoes are hideous but some people love them. What I don't get is when I see a senior-level executive with a nice suit on and $75 shoes. I've never seen someone look well-dressed with crappy shoes. And it is amazing to me when I'm in a meeting with a bunch of suits and the majority of them have crappy, uncared for shoes. As a teenager someone once told me that the first thing a women looks at is a mans shoes. I didn't know if it was true but I liked girls and didn't want to leave anything to chance. Even when I couldn't afford $700 shoes I always paid attention to them. I don't understand anyone who fashions himself as well-dressed not doing the same.

Thanks!

I bought them in my normal Barrie/Trubalance size, which is half size down from my "regular" shoe size.

Spot on. Being well dressed begins with your feet, followed perhaps by having a reasonably good haircut.
