Obviously I don't know where he got his, but here are two places on the web for interesting colored shoe laces. Think the first is having a bit of a father's day discount as well.

Got the electric blue laces from AE. With black shell, I find it an easy way to play with the bright colored laces. :) Glad my pair inspired something.

Landed overseas and no problem with the metal shank. They set off the alarm but no issues with security.

Finally got around to snapping some pics of my new Cigar Indy's from Alden SF.

Oh and, a shameless plug: I just listed some calf wingtip boots from J Gilbert if anyone is interested

GREAT boots. :slayer:

Gents -

I noticed that Rancourt carries a Color 8 CXL belt :

http://www.rancourtandcompany.com/b...-6231-roller-buckle-matte-nickel-size-32.html

I did not know that the Color 8 was available in CXL -

Does anybody know if Alden has ever done a Color 8 CXL shoe/boot, and has pics? I am curious to compare with the Color 8 Shell -

Thanks -

I was looking at that same belt when looking for a brown Chromexcel belt to go with my Indy's. My guess is it will look nothing like shell but it will look like a brown Chromexcel but slightly more reddish. I find some red in my brown so I gave up looking for a pair of the #8. It would be a nice belt for my #8 shell though.

I think Red Wing did a boot in #8 Chromexcel but I do not think they use Horween anymore, which is a shame cause I love and trust Horween.

I am not as interested in the red Chromexcel since I love the brown but would love to see a makeup.

I am VERY interested in a navy Chromexcel makeup. Maybe a wing tip boot? I believe Quoddy has used Horween Navy Chromexcel and in my house Chromexcel is becoming my favorite.

I checked The Shoe Mart and did not see this makeup but am sure I ahve seen it in the past. You could call.

I checked Alden of Carmel and they have this boot which is on Trubalance:

I have a pair of black plain toe boots on Barrie and it does not seem to be as big as my PTB's. I wear the black cordovan plain to boot a lot on weekends and I love it. I am not sure I would want the boot on a plaza last but I am sure you can find it if you are patient. Good luck.

I've also been quite curious to see how Color 8 CXL and Shell compare. I was thinking of grabbing a #8 CXL belt to match sport with a pair of #8 LWBs.

The #8 PT Blucher is one of my fave Alden shoes. The beauty lies in its simplicity, IMO. My love affair with the plain toe style continues, this time in a Plaza boot, courtesy of Yenni at J. Gilbert.

I too like the plain toe boot. Got a pair in black calf. Also on barrie. Also seems to fit tighter than other barrie lasted shoes. Very nice boots, Mr. Saxon.

Alden #8 shell next to Rancourt #8 Chromexcel

And then different versions of #8--AE, Florsheim, Alden, and Rancourt

(Cross-post from 721 thread)

Adding to that comparison, my Wolverine 721's in #8 are way lighter/oranger and duller than the Alden #8 I have.
