That includes VAT. Plus they have to import them...

Leffot was pretty confident about their September 2012 delivery date last I spoke to them regarding my pre-order about a month ago when I got my tassel loafers from them. I have a feeling their order went through before all of this hoopla. But than again I could also be in complete and utter denial that I won't be getting those beauties for another year, my god the agony.

Don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but this is pretty doubtful. Epaulet's order for the Ravello Brixton boot went in nearly 18 months ago, and apparently that order is at the top of the list for whenever the next Ravello shells come in.

Not to be an ass, but I sure am glad I got my hands on some Ravello from LS when I did :slayer:

I hate waiting 18 days for something to ship to Canada, never mind being on a list for 18 moths+ for a pre-order...

Ran across these while scoping out the Moulded shoe site and blog (which isn't all that helpful). Thoughts, guys?

Not a huge fan of natural CXL, but these are pretty bad ass. I'm kinda over the LWB movement. SWB needs it's 15 minutes.

Here's what I don't get: these sources all say that Alden has no leather because Horween doesn't have the leather. So... that begs the question: how ****** is the quality of the leather that Horween IS shipping out?? We all know that shell cordovan is shell cordovan, and the only difference between Ravello and #8 is that apparently Ravello requires a hide free of most imperfections. So, for Horween to say that they have ZERO hides worthy of being tanned in Ravello certainly scares me about the prospect of buying any of their other colors (even black). Is this a larger systemic problem of Horween getting inferior hides from their equine suppliers or what??

Bah, I missed on two chances to get ravello boots in E sizes (the Aberdeen NST boot and the chukka boots). May be a while before any pop up.

For the next few months it may be all about getting chromexcel, calfskin, #8 and black cordovan models as the rare cordovan colors get rarer

Maybe Tom from LS can help here? It seems to me that ravello is likely the most popular and requested rare shell color. Is it possible that Alden/Horween have filled a bunch of their (numerous) ravello orders and that whiskey/cigar orders are next in line to be filled? Given any shipment of qualified hides, how does Alden determine what color to dye them?

Anybody know if i buy alden from this web store i have to pay duty Tax for US or not

You shouldn't be paying any tariffs since they're US made but depending upon the courier you may have to pay brokerage fees (around $25 for fedex).

We do not all know that shell cordovan is shell cordovan. There are lots of variations in shells. As for quality, I am not on board with the "Horween has no leather so the quality of what we get must be ******" argument.

Changing the subject, I have only been buying Alden shoes for 5 years or so. During that time there has always been this alleged shortage of Whiskey, Ravello and Cigar. They are "rare" shells. But I always see them. If I see a pair that is almost exactly what I like but off on one point and buy it because of the shortage 3-4 months later I see the shoe the exact way I want it. I would not panic.

Also I think it is good news that horse-slaughter should soon be legal in the US. That should open up some reliable sources for Horween. What impact it actually has I will have to wait and see.

I think it may be more frustrating for guys that are on various preorders - the wait for those specific products seems to be getting very long. If you can wear a Barrie last in a common size, there always seem to be rare cordovan colors popping up every month or so at the various retailers.
