RTP, thank you very much for the kind words. I was never an English major. Political Science with a focus on Foreign Affairs is what I enjoyed the most. My love for words comes from being fed heavy doses of Twain, Dickens, and Hemingway from an early age.

I believe it was color 8 and there were a few odd sizes in cigar.  I put my name on a wait list (for cigar) and they said it would likely be mid-2014.  I hope I am not botching the details.

That is strange because I measure the same and am the same Barrie size. I am slightly under 8.5 on the Brannock so that could be the difference. But hey...works out for both of us!

It is strange, the main problem for me is that there was too much leather around the instep and ankle, I could close the laces all the way and they still weren't tight. I can see from your pictures that they fit your foot much better, you have the laces pulled tight and still have some room between the sides. Best I can surmise is that the Brannock size only measures the bottom and width of your foot, not the circumference around the instep and ankle. So, I think we could both measure the same on a Brannock but still have really different fits for such a boot.

Another option you can look into if your foot is on the narrow side of the spectrum is the Leydon last.  Many here go with the E width because of its narrowness.

Someone should set up an Alden of Boston. Or at least a Leffot or Leather Soul like store (if there isn't one already). That town would like it. Same with Chicago.

I agree. There needs to be the same in Philadelphia. Allen Edmonds just opened up down there, hopefully Alden will be soon to follow!!!! I guess it depends on how AE does.

Thank you sir. They are calf. No idea on how old. The folks at alden couldn't find info about them either. The same seller from eBay had black shell lhs, brown suede sw, #8 nst, and these. If I had to, I would guess from the late 80s.

Thanks for the kind words be. I'm happy with the results. I have before n after pictures, I'll post later this evening.

Nice one RTP. That is a beautiful LWB. And thanks for the info on the Leydon last. I actually have tried it (unlined chukkas) and it might work for me. The issue that kept me from going ahead with the purchase was a fair amount of heel slippage in the chukka. I think a Leydon suede PTB might be an option though (next year!).
