I'm a big fan of Alden snuff suede.  Fine acquisition my friend.  Enjoy them this fall...

Anybody ever see anything like this before? These are my 5th pair of shell shoes/boots (Alden & AE) and it's new to me.

I've seen images like this with Alden shell but usually ones that are ancient and selling on ebay that go for under $100.  I suspect those who purchase them are looking to recraft with Alden, if in fact they are old Aldens.  Sorry you have to go through all of this.  Hopefully TSM/Alden  will be able to get it done.

Uncle, I'm almost afraid to tell you... AE Dalton in walnut shell (sorry) and the 986;  both are on the way.

To recap, they had a streaky, uneven finish upon receipt. I thought I could live with it. However, every time I wore them in sunlight, the uneven finish seemed more and more apparent.

I sent images to TSM to inquire about having Alden refinish them and they requested I ship them back to TSM for inspection. TSM sent them to Alden for refinishing and they came back last week (3 weeks door to door). They looked great, the streaks were gone and I was happy to have them back after just three weeks.

However after just a day of wear this past monday, the finish flaked off in certain spots right at the creases. I sent these images back to TSM on Tuesday and my CS Rep forwarded them to Ed, the owner. I'm awaiting their response now.

I had a similar experience a few months ago with Alden of NYC and my cigar PTB's.  After a few hours of wear:

Sent them back to Alden for a refinish.  Got them back after about 3 weeks and after a few more hours of wear, they looked like this:

Alden offered to refinish them a second time. I declined and asked them to send me these instead:

Happy with my decision and even happier with the great service from the folks at Alden of NYC!

+1. Never considered a SWB until now. Always preferred a bal or LWB. Very nice RTP!

Hi Looking for some experienced advice on the breakin for the Alden PT suede boot. I purchased the Safari model, my first Alden, and had only tried the Indy before buying these. The 2 lasts are apples to oranges, with the Indy on the Barrie having a wider toe box. So my question is the fit feels snug but comfortable wearing them around the house (at the end of the day when the feet are most swollen). I hope they will stretch out a little more to be perfect. Does anyone have a suede PT boot that has broken in and will it stretch a little? a lot? I think the Plaza last looks great with the suede. I don't think i can go longer in size to get the extra width. Any experience/insight welcome DuckOB
