I'm looking to purchase some stuff to care for my color 8 cordovan cap-toe boots.  I plan to get a polishing brush and some kind of buffing cloth.  Here's where I am confused.  Do I need the "fine shoe paste wax" or the "fine shoe cream"?  What's the difference between the two?

From my experIence, some differences are consistency, amount of conditioner and dye, and shine. Cream has more conditioner, dye, and penetrates the leather better. However wax provides a much better shine. Regarding consistency, wax is 'harder' (think of Kiwi in a tin) whereas cream has the consistency of paste.

Personally I've tried both cream and paste just to see how my shells react. Honestly I don't see a significant difference besides wax having more shine (I never had blooming issues with cream too). I think use polish when needed and not like every so often like with calf.

Anyone know where I could find a Cigar LWB in C width?
Thanks

Now that is a good question. I'd say only of you catch a pre-order? Others might have better information. Good luck with the search.

Like dsmivtr said, a pre-order is your best bet. Epaulet just had one for a Cigar LWB on the Leydon last, so maybe they will restock that again at some point in the future. You should also try Shoe Mart - I believe I asked them about a C width Cigar LWB a while ago and they said they could get one, but it would take just as long as a pre-order, anywhere from 12-18 months.

A. plaza indy from frans boone

B. plaza NST tanker from j.gilbert (same as picture but on commando soles)

want the option to be able to wear them with dressier slacks as well as more casual chinos. what do people think?

thanks in advance

Almost positive I've asked you this question about these very boots (must be because I stop of the photo every time you post one), but these are on the Modified last, right? They are outstanding.

Wow, didn't realize it might take that long. Is something like a #8 LWB in C usually more available?

Thanks

Just got some saphir renovateur conditioner in the mail. I've worn my Aldens probably like 20x and it seems that the leather is drying out a bit around the toe creases. How should I go about applying the cream? Should I just hit the whole shoe with a small small amount on a cloth, wait 20 mins then hit it with a brush? Thanks I'm new to this.

I would assume the #8 would be more available. My first try would be the official Alden stockists - Alden DC and SF. Then I'd look next the Alden Madison Ave or the Shoe Mart. In my experience if you're looking for something, don't rely on what's posted on the web. Instead, call the store. Alden SF is generally very helpful in my experience.
