There seems to be a lot of hate for the Leffot Naval boot going on recently.  I personally love the boot, so much so I'm ordering a pair this weekend.  I think the combo of perforated captoe, all eyelets and colo #8 is great. I think the boot is both masculine and beefy while still being refined and classic.

While I've kept my eye on the J. Crew boot for a while but I really don't like how speed hooks tend to chew up laces.  The only change I'd make to the Leffot boot would be to add a commando or dainit sole - which I may have B. Nelson do.

some like it and some don't, such is the nature of taste. I personally really like it (enough to buy a pair) and there are certainly others that do as well. I personally really like #8 with antique edge over black edge but that is just my personal preference

I think it is possible that some of the folks who already own the J. Crew may be a little biased.  (Not saying I'm sure of it, just a little suspicious)

I like the Leffot Naval boot. I think the antique edging on the #8 version is the detail that divides people on it. I'm not always a fan of #8 with antique, but I think it looks good on some boots (my Leffot Tankers have antique, for example, which I like). I don't think I'd ever buy a shoe and then immediately change the sole, but whenever you do resole, you can always change the welt/edging color and sole type at that point (provided you go through B. Nelson, for example). This isn't directed towards you, since it sounds like you like the makeup as is, but it's something to consider in general.

UPS just dropped off my Cigar PTB from Alden on Madison.  My first pair of PTB...I like them a lot!

See Ya,

Wow, you're really on a roll. Can you remind me: do you take a particularly large or small size? That's the only way I can imagine being able to find all these rare styles.

I only have the boot version (Leffot #8 Tankers), but highly recommend NSTs in general. My preference is Barrie or Plaza, but I still think they look great on the Aberdeen.

I have not heard that comment on this forum and I would recommend that you should not wait until this weekend to order the naval boots because they may be sold out by then

Not crazy about speedhooks, but I really dislike the the antique/light/natural welt with color 8. But again, that's just my preference.  I dig the antique edge with cigar, ravello, and whiskey, just not so much with color 8.  Nevertheless, still a great boot.nod[1].gif
