Bakes,

I completely agree with you. The pictures on their site make the boot appear much darker and cold. In person they are gorgeous. They edge trim and welt have a very low profile sleek look and as you point out the color #8 is quite vibrant. I will try and take a few more higher quality shots tomorrow. It is hard to explain but the boot has a very minimal look that feels very complete.

Just personal preference. I like the look/profile of Dainite versus commando. A tad bit dressier in my opinion. Took them out for a stroll tonight and the comfort is great.

Anyways, glad you were able to acquire what you desire.  Wear in great health... great boots!
The boots were originally dark welt/edge from unionmade. I asked the original cobbler for antique welt and edge; I have some pics from that work in my profile and they mistakenly stained the top of the welt dark.

All is good now since B nelson antiqued the welt (top of welt as well) and edge.

Noted. I feel like my shell thirst is quenched with a more focused collection of shoes (LWB, LHS, AE shell strand, cap toe boot). I figure its better to spend a fraction modifying to my preferences versus waiting months for exotic shell and paying $700+ for a new pair.

Thanks for the kind words on the wallet also. Highly recommend Ashland leather for both products and supreme customer service.

Alden for Leffot #8 Naval captoe boot

This boot is areal bummer for me. Love the top part of the boot and hate the edge treatment..... I just don't get this. I would buy the boot to wear with a suit in winter but......

Now I am sure my size will sell out before I make up my mind. Ideas???

I have the "Little New York" front pocket wallet in #4 and sometimes think it is too big - especially in Rivet chino front pockets.

That thing is huge!

The pockets on these Rivet Chinos must be unusually small, because I have never had an issue with the Fat Herbie wallet fitting in any of my trou rolleyes.gif

Clearly you don't love it and as such shouldn't but it. Perhaps the J Crew version would be a better fit for you?

I ordered a fat herbie ruby shell wallet from Ashland leather. It is huge, it barely fits in my back pocket. i wore rivet chinos today and felt i was hiding a Gameboy in my pocket.  i'm not sending it back. i like the craftsmanship and finish. it smells right, and it looks great under my phone when i set them on my desk.

I've only had the wallet for one day, i'm sure ill get used to it's size in a couple of weeks. I like it and hope to order more (slightly smaller) wallets from Ashland in the future.

Great looking wallet, I thought about getting that one as I like the layout, but I don't really like a large wallet. Thanks for posting.

Generally, J. Crew does not have "E" widths.

What about the 4060 in Color 8?  Plenty of E's in stock at Alden NY.   I find mine to dress up or dress down very well.  Very versatile boot.
