PSA- while they have a less than stellar reputation around here, it looks like the code "Dad" is working for 25% off on North River Outfitter's Alden inventory.

I'm curious why they've got that reputation...they seem to be the only Alden retailer around Boston, so it's be curious if I ought to be avoiding them.

Just checked with them, Alden not eligible for discount. So its an error, which means they may ultimately decide to cancel your order.

The first rule of the hot deal is to never ever call.

Would have to agree with this.... I wasn't a big fan of the NST style at all until I saw the leffot tanker boot in color 8.... fell in love with the boot, got a pair and they are special - just something about the style that nothing else has.

I really don't see how you get that kind of glossy shine by just using a brush. How much time do you spend brushing? I spend a couple minutes one each shoe in the morning and never get that kind of shine.

Honestly, the lighting in the pic has a great impact on how shiny these shoes look.  I have several shells that look great, but even better with sunshine/outdoor pics. Like this one, for instance...

I cleaned this pair with a damp cloth and brushed for a minute or two.  No reno, paste wax, etc... just damp cloth, brush, buff, and a great sunny day.
