I'm sick of being told to accept scratches, creasing, crazy pricing, year long waits. I know for a fact that the shell drought is not as bad as we think and, if one shoe company wants to pull a DeBeers where they drive demand and dictate prices, we should be able to have another option. I'm sure people will be hesitant to purchase a non- Alden shoe/boot, but I know Carmina delivers and, if you don't want Carmina boots; hopefully we'll wake up Alden and get them back to making what they used to make.
I'm interested in being part of this project. Please keep me in mind as it develops.

See Ya,
Steve

I've been wanting to explore Carmina, and had been eyeing the Epaulet Anderson Jumper Boot in Cognac.

So is Carmina's cognac between ravello and cigar?

I think I agree that cognac would be more versatile.

Alden has the exclusive rights to certain colors, but that being said, if this could be done in any color, which color would those interested choose?

I'll go with the general consensus. It's more the style a d Carmina's flexibility which make this so cool.

I spoke with them about how their last were too formal and pointed and they literally asked me to send them a boot(a) and they'd create that last.

They have a ton of Horween shell. Why not have them meet demand. I'm hoping that going directly through Carmina will lower the price compared to what retailers, who buy wholesale from Carmina, have to make.

If we all knew for a fact, that our grail shoes could be made without a two year wait and with Carmina's incredibly craftsmanship; I feel firmly that this frustrated thread might take a more satisfied direction.

Send them a Modified last and see what they say.

Cognac is a great color. It's a mid-dark brown with great depth - paler than Ravello, but without the green undertones of Cigar. It's really stunning.

Similarly, Ruby goes further in the red direction than even #4. Saddle sits between light Whiskey and Ravello; again, paler (more transparent - kind of hard to explain), but less yellow than whisky.

Carmina offers great shell colors, and are apparently well stocked Cordovan-wise. Their QC is top notch. Check out the deep green "Loden" color being discussed on the Epaulet thread right now as well. They also do a Navy shell which is absolutely stunning.

FWIW, not that I'm in a position to order new shoes at the moment, but a Ruby Thor boot would be stunning and very unique.

Just Saphir brown cordovan cream (I assume it just has more dye)

Also like NTL CXL but I also wanted a brown (like the Indy color) but with a natural welt; plan on getting another pair on Leffot's next run.

Gcb,
I'd be in for the cognac. I'm missing a cigar boot in the collection. Wouldn't mind something cigaresque or ravello-ish.

I'd probably be in for the ruby as well. How does it stack up next to color 8?

E widths possible?

Where do we stand on eyelets vs speed hooks?

Commando sole?

Sorry if this has been addressed. Movers come tomorrow and I'm swimming in boxes and feeling a bit overwhelmed. This Thor idea is a nice mood lifter smile.gif

Put me down as definitely interested in a cognac or cigaresque Carmina boot.... Sounds like a great project and could scratch my shell "itch"... smile.gif

I know that this is an Alden thread, but I'm gauging interest on how many people would want a "Thor Boot" made in Ruby Shell Cordovan by Carmina.

I am sending them a Barrie lasted boot to recreate. The boot will have the toe box and width of an Alden Barrie, but the quality of a Carmina.

I own 15 Alden Shell Boots/Shoes, so do not think that I some Carmina guy poaching. I'm sick of the cordovan shortage and the quality control over at a certain Massachussetts based company.

All Boots will be made in Horween Shell with a leather Sole. Was thinking about possibly Dainite, but leather would be my first choice.

The shell is Ruby colored.

I always felt that Carmina Boots were too European. Too narrow, too sleek in the toe, too high in the upper and I never liked the eyelets. They were just too formal. I am going to send them two pairs of my boots and these will be the perfect boot that every Slden fan has been waiting for. I am not going to be profiting from this. All payments will be made directly through Carmina.

I am simply going to make sure that the boot is made like the boots we love. As I said, A

n samples will be shipped to Spain. I just figured that they're not going to make continuous runs of this boot and I am just gauging interest.

I did a similar thing with Viberg in Whiskey Cordovan and they turned out amazing.

I've been talking with some guys on this board who I respect to make sure that we get the style right. I have also been talking with Carmina. If a certain number of you show interest and are willing to eventually pay 50% deposit, I'll have Carmina save the shells for us.

Was going to just do this for 4 guys, but figured why not share the wealth.

You know I'm in.

Ruby shell is awesome.

Be aware that sometimes "cognac" comes out more cigar than ravello.

Cognac (AS, but you get the idea), #4, Ruby, Ravello.

A cigar-ish boot would be great IMO.
