I am still fishing for a blue suede shoe.  Many thanks to everyone who provided leads.  I am looking at the Union Made PTB with crepe sole and the Alden NY PTB with flexible single leather sole.  Both are on the Barrie last.

not sure what your needs are, but consider that the Alden NY is a single sole unlined suede shoe and the Union is lined, on crepe, likely weighs 3 times as much as the other, and we're heading into spring/summer

I think this is the key consideration. Get the unlined pub in navy suede. I worn mine (from Leather Soul) all last summer. No socks. Its a great summer shoe. But get the other one too if you feel so moved.

Brown CXL ages great, I just called Alden NY to see if they had these in 10E, they did. I have to make a decision.

Here is what I wish someone told me - wait. Give it a few months. Make sure you nailed down the perfect size for your own feet. You will be dazzled by the cordovan and will be hungry for more. Use the time to observe other shoes online and in person. Amass your funds for battle. Despite what everyone says, you can get the shoes you want in the color you want eventually.

Sound advice (and advice that I - and, I'm betting, Kippy - could have benefitted from years ago...)

It's pretty amazing how good brown CXL can look in non-Indy configurations. If I didn't already have the CXL chukkas I probably would consider these.

these are superb. If I hadn't given up buying Aldens for Lent, i'd be all up on these. for those out there who are anti indy but still want an alden workboot, this is the one! These are better than the context Roys in my opinion.
