Well it appears that the rumors about a shell shortage may be true... I have a leather artisan out of. Chicago who makes small leather accessories for me out of shell cordovan...he usually picks up his shells as he takes orders, going to the Horween factory nearby... I dropped him a note today to see if he could make something for me in No. 8 and this was his reply:

"Horween is currently out of shell cordovan. I will open up the store when stock returns."

Not looking good folks... We may be in for a bit of a dry spell... Unless Alden has stocked up on shells...?

it would be interesting to know if Horween has any shell in the pipeline currently as it takes a full 6 months to complete.

Based on what my guy indicated, August, so it would appear they do... But who knows how much of a supply they will be turning out? I'll share any further details as they get relayed to me...

I was at a Brooks Brothers store several weeks ago and saw a pair of LHS, BBBF in what appeared to be Cigar with double leather soles and dark brown edge. They look like slip-on tanks, but awesome. They only had it in size 7.5D. I haven't seen anything like it since. If my tassel mocs work out well, I may pony-up (no pun intended) for the 986 or 6717.
