Are you certain it's the same last? Alden does make PTBs on a last called M58 and probably other lasts other than the Barrie.

Alden uses that last for BB shoes. I've never seen it used elsewhere (besides being sold as seconds).

I've been told that the M58 last is identical to the Barrie last other than the fact that it does not run a 1/2 size large like the Barrie does. Presumably to help BB customers avoid confusion with sizing.

-> "did you get "D" width? I find the leydon last to run narrow. I had to get an E width"

Correct.

Not true. The shape is different. M58 is a bit sleeker and pointier in the toe. I wear the same size as Barrie myself though.

I've heard the same and it matches my experience. However, others disagree.

They're close, but not the same:

On the left, is the m58 Brooks Brothers Alden PTB, on the right, the Alden 975 Barrie last. Both in size 8.5 D. Notice the BB has a slightly more tapered toe box.

For my feet, each fits perfect with the BB on the left feeling just very slightly more snug.

Namor -- where have you found Leydon's in E width? I'm awaiting a pair this week to try on but the select seems to be quite sparse. AF80s seem to be one of the few options.

I tried this look over the weekend with my #8 shell Indys, it felt really awkward to have my cuffs up like that in a slim straight cut, but then it drops off to an ankle-tight boot. I quickly rolled my cuffs back down when I realized how goofy the appearance was. I think only with a skinny or very tapered leg opening that this looks good. The above pics is similar to what I looked like when I tried this (the guy in the pics has what appears to be slightly more taper than I had on) - not a fan of this look though

It reminds me of American skinheads in the 1980's. Throw some white/red laces on a black pair of boots, roll up your 501s, and go hang out in front of the local 7-Eleven.

So annoying to hear them pronounced so many times as "bloo-chers" instead of "blue-kers"

Note that there are two accepted pronunciations: blucher but I much prefer the "blue-ker" version

Can I request some pictures of people wearing their #8 wing tip boots and cap toe boots with jeans/chinos? Still trying to decide...

Frans Boone??

Anybody ever buy online from this store? Some of their Alden makeups are pretty cool, too bad the exchange rate works against us in the US. I'm especially digging the cigar ptb with brass eyelets.......
